Beyond mixed. And yet never again! Beautiful exterior, boutique-style entrance, generously-sized tower suite but oddly a loose handle in the shower. Cheap, tiny TV. Had to pay extra for another coffee pad, unimaginable elsewhere. Exaggerated prices for below average food taste in adjacent restaurant, unfriendly staff attitude included. Milk for coffee was extra. Very central location with nice views at a huge square but shabby neighborhood surrounding it, doesn’t feel particularly safe. I heard shots at night, frequent street racing. Many grimy looking, young men loitering when they should be at work (I am bald with full beard myself). Staff speaks English poorly. I asked for assistance with bus tours to the Buzludzha monument; the day time shift, a chubby man with glasses, was not one bit helpful. I missed the tour. When needing a cab to the airport at 4am, night shift locked up the hotel from the outside and left, I couldn’t step outside. In pure desperation, I downloaded the Sofia taxi app, it wouldn’t work. Night shift left a sign that he is on coffee break. It took over 20 min for him to return. I searched the entire basement for him, debated climbing out of a window but suspicious men outside made me reconsider. I won’t return to this hotel, to the crumbling City of Sofia, or the decrepit country of Bulgaria with its many rude people - who let you...
Read moreThe Lion Hotel is my favorite hotel in Sofia, especially for stays that are limited to the center, it is five minutes from the train and bus station, the value for money and the service are incredible and allows you to explore in complete peace of mind and comfort throughout the center of Sofia, it is right next to a tram stop, a bus stop and a metro station, so transportation options will not be scarce; We tried the breakfast place attached to the hotel and it is excellent for the price you pay.
The only thing that could improve, especially in the winter season, is that the rooms leave a little to be desired with the heating not being the most effective and the hotel feels a little cold, and please repair the elevator, it is too slow and stops Going down four floors with luggage, the wait is no less than...
Read moreYou can get a better place for the price of this one. An older gentleman was very disrespectful with me. He yelled at me infront of all the staff of the restaurant for something I was asking about the restaurant (in the reception ) and he was not understanding. Whatever the reason, this is not a way to answer a client. The curtain of my window was not working. They “fixed” it twice in my 5 days in there. They don’t have blackout either, so if you want to sleep until late is pretty impossible. I feel it’s a bit far from the attractions and for me walking solo, was not a very nice street at night. You can find closer and nicer hotels to the center. I wouldn’t stay here again.
I have to say that the cleaning every...
