We booked to stay at this hotel on the 5th June 2022 for one night. We chose it due to its location, price and the fact it had air conditioning. Upon arrival at the hotel, there was no one to greet us. We used the bell and the most miserable looking receptionist came out. She offered no greeting. I told her we had a booking and the name. She said you are not in this hotel. I showed her the booking confirmation. She told us we had been moved to a different hotel around the corner. We carried all out luggage about a two minute walk away to 'hotel aris'. The receptionist came with us. There we met the next miserable looking receptionist. The two spoke in their language so we couldn't understand whilst they looked at the computer. They did this for about 10mins before giving me a key card. They took our passports for check-in and asked for payment. We sked if this new room had the same facilities as the one we had booked..they said yes. So we paid. After arriving in the room we found it to have no air conditioning. As it was 34 degrees Celsius we asked to be moved to a room which did. The receptionist told us the building didn't offer it. We asked for a refund to book a new place which the receptionist said she needed to ring her manager. Whilst at reception another guest came down to complain about the constant hotel swapping and said 'it's a complete scam.' The manager came on the phone and told us the receptionist had no authority to stop the payment going though and he would do it in the morning. However, the money has gone out and we have had no response from the hotel. We are trying to contact booking.com who we originally made the booking with. It was a horrible ending to a lovely trip away. Save yourself time and money and...
Read moreThe most appropriate rating for this hotel is minus 5 stars. Unfortunately, there is no such an option. Hotel Favorite has nothing to do with the hotel it was two or three years ago. I understand that every business is struggling right now, but not making any effort and letting your customers down is unforgivable in this service industry. This summer we had plans to travel more around Bulgaria with a few nights in Sofia. Naturally we chose Hotel Favorite, as we have wonderful impressions (as it turned out quite old and wrong). Besides the good memories, we booked the room because of the large terrace with a nice panoramic view, where we intended to spend part of the evening and enjoy the grown-up and ageless Sofia, because of the restaurant where we intended to have dinner and breakfast. Everything I have just mentioned wasn't available but the problem is we found out on the arrival. Nowhere is it mentioned that the level has fallen, that the hygiene is at an unacceptable level (you can see in the photos below), that the restaurant is not working, and breakfast is served at a nearby hotel, and that no one can sit on the terrace because there wasn't even a single chair. The girl at the front desk made an effort to bring a table with chairs, but it didn't really help to make the stay more pleasant. It is not pleasant to loathe the place where you will sleep. It's also not nice to feel lied to and let down. I am very sorry about the nice hotel it used to be. I have slept in nicer and cleaner dormitories at much lower prices. We paid BGN 140 for the room. Don't repeat the same mistake. Don't waste your money. There are better places for much less money. Unfortunately, we did not have time to react for the...
Read moreWe arrived, there was no one at reception. It took her 10 minutes to arrive. First three days of our five day stay, it was raining heavily and 20 degrees, so we did not notice the air conditioning was broken. The room was had many tatters, stains on carpets and even a hole in the wall. No services promised were available: room service, bar/restaurant, airport transfer. The last two days of our trip the heat became extreme and our room was located on top of the 1st floor roof, which our balcony was directly even with, leading to intense heat which made using the windows impossible. We informed the staff, after waiting for several minutes at the front desk as he stood outside doing his primary job of smoking cigarettes. He investigated our room and found it was broken. He promised to return in 15 minutes with an answer or solution. He never returned, and the next day claimed we had a "do not disturb" sign up. Mind you, we permanently had this sign up during our stay, and explicitly agreed that he would return in 15 minutes. ||||Upon check out, the same young male was at the desk, and when I reminded him we're from the room with no air conditioning. He just laughed, and kept smirking and laughing to himself the entire checkout. It took a lot of self control not to open hand slap that arrogant smirk right off his face. When he wasn't out smoking cigarettes, he was laughing in the face of customers whom he promised to provide services for and didn't. I have never seen a more unprofessional hotel staff in my entire life, across multiple countries. Truly, the bottom of the barrel is being hired...
