I stay at Goldie's when I am in Phnom Penh for a day. Basically, the $20 and $25 a night prices (which hace been the same since 2010 or before) are good for what Goldie's offers. ||||It is in a safe location in thd heart of BKK1, probably the most prestigious and safest neighborhood in Phnom Penh. There is a very good market about 15 mins walk south down street 57 where you can get good local food and fresh fruit for a small price.||||There is a massage salon attached to guesthouse which is quite good too.||||Staff helpful and friendly.||||Note there is a lot of major building construction nearby so be careful which room you get in...
Read moreAfter staying in all kinds of hotels in Phnom Penh for ten years, I was relieved to be introduced to this charming little guesthouse/pensione on st 57.||The owner, Nina, replied to my request immediately and booked my room at the last minute, most graciously.||I arrived to find an old Khmer style hotel transformed into a European style lodging, with funky art on the walls, old deco furniture, all amenities (ac, hot water etc) including an electric strip extension to recharge all my electronics. Pleasant subdued colors (including floor tiles...) reminded me of Italian/Austrian pensiones I had frequented 30 years ago...I felt lifted out of the hubbub of PP. ||Welcoming, professional staff, full bar with expresso machines - close to any and all restaurants, mini marts around Independence Monument and st 278.||One of the best hotel experiences I have had...
