The reason I put 3 stars I did not stay there but I plan to in the future but I'd like to share my friend's experience there. Back in early 2020 before the pandemic When my friends Glenn, Mark, Nate, Jake, Natalie, Kaitlyn, John and Jim came up to Banff and Lake Louise for a ski trip before our school retreat to the Jackson Hole area. So their original plan was to stay at the Lake Louise Fairmont after staying at the Sunshine Village area, however they wanted to stay somewhere closer to the Ski area, so they decided to stay here.
So then they were able to get a refundable cancellation from the Fairmont and booked 2 separate rooms here. When they checked in, the front desk gave them 2 separate rooms. Both were Double queen bed lodge rooms in the main lodge area, both rooms were pretty dirty. One of my friends found a ponytail tie in the pillows, urine stains were all over the bathroom. Candy, water bottles, and etc everywhere. Nate called the front desk to request a room change or someone to clean it, but they said there were no rooms left to rebook and refused to send cleaning service for some reason. So they cleaned the whole room themselves and when my friend Kaitlyn was about to take a shower, she found 3 hair strands in the shower drain. So the only option was to take a shower in the other room where it was clean and Adjacent to the room where my friends Kaitlyn, Mark, Glenn and John were.
The night is another story, after a long day of skiing in sunshine village, All my friends no matter what room your staying in, it was loud with the heater working and the water tank dripping was so loud. So loud that you can hear a bad leakage. My friend Natalie was the first to notice this while my other friends were either downplaying it at first or either slept through the whole thing, she called the front desk to tell them about it, the front desk said there would be someone to come and check it out. After 47 minutes no one showed up, maybe it was too early or either it was either a normal thing which maintenance crews didn't worry about, so she didn't choose to call again. The breakfast and dinner was nice, the hot tub etc was nice and when they came back to rest after a long day of skiing, everything was messed up in Nate, Jim, Natalie and Jake's room. It wasn't the housekeeping service or anything but it felt like they were robbed. They checked everything like their wallets which was stuck in the safe and everywhere in the room. Everything was in place, when Natalie was about to take a shower, she realized a chipmunk came in to the room hiding in the shower which shocked my friends and left toward the other room, Glenn called the front desk to tell them about the chipmunk and to call animal control ASAP but the person on the phone just laughed by thinking it was funny joke and also thought it was cute. So he hung up and called animal control himself.
Animal control came just in time to get the small mammal and bring it back into the wild, once everything settled down the 4 went back in their room, they saw that one of the windows were accidentally open and the windows which had a view of the trees. So the chipmunk must have jumped from the tree into the window.
My friend Jim recalls accidentally forgetting to shut the window. After all of that, my friends called to see if there was any possibility to change rooms with a nicer view, but there wasn't any availability. The third day or the last day was okay, breakfast was fine and etc. I'd personally think I should try it out myself but I don't think my friends would want to stay here again.
Even though I didn't come on my friend's trip, I got to say the staff here are so irresponsible on the way they do things even when my friends stayed there! The staff there so pathetic on how they clean their rooms and handle their customer service. They should've handled...
Read moreWe booked the lodge for the long weekend September 5-8, 2020, mainly because of the kitchenette as I have food allergies. According to their website, they were supposed to charge every night for our booking duration. Which they did. Unfortunately, the night of September 5, I got extremely sick and we didn't leave till early morning on September 6. We arrived in the morning and asked for our room since our credit card was already charged based on the information in the website. The staff told us they sold our room to someone else. I asked them to at least give us access to a fridge so that I can store the food. Which they did for a new room (instead of the room that we originally booked since they had sold it to other people). We stored the perishable food items in the fridge and they told us that they are doing us a favor by letting us keep the food in the room that we paid for. I asked them to prepare the room soon and they said that they will call, however, the check in time is 4pm. Meaning, I had to stay hungry till 4pm. I called them again at 12:30pm, and asked if they can hurry up by making a priority, the response was very interesting. We are giving you a favor by allowing you to keep the food, when our check in is 4pm. I stated the fact that there is no favor, as you have sold our room that you charge us for to someone else. On this, she became hostile and I hang up the phone. Shortly after, received a call from the motel that they cannot tolerate threats to the staff (I told them I will not provide good review) and their cashier was very upset. And additionally, they have cancelled the booking and they will return the money. Also, ask to come and take the food. They did'...
Read moreWe stayed at the Mountaineer Lodge for the first time recently and overall our experience was alright but not great. First off, the front desk staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. When we arrived in our room in the Timber Building we were happy to see that everything had been updated and the room itself was very clean and inviting. Furthermore, having a fridge and microwave in the room came in very handy. Later on we tried out the hot tub which was very underwhelming. First off we were told that towels were provided at the spa. However, when we arrived there were no towels at all, instead dirty towels were scattered around the room. The hot tub was Luke warm at best and the steam room was unfortunately out of service. So after spending some time in the hot tub we walked back to our room in the Timber Building wet and cold. Not great but what can you do. The beds were comfy enough and the room was overall fairly quiet. When we awoke we went to breakfast which is located in the basement of the Timber building. Now not really the greatest to have the breakfast room in this location as no matter which building you stay in you have to walk outside to get to it. The breakfast itself was very disappointing as when we arrived there was 2 sausages and 1 piece of French toast left in the hot section only a half hour after the breakfast room opened. And the food selection wasn't great. I would say my biggest complaint about this hotel is that main amenities are separated into different buildings which is inconvenient. Therefore, due to the multiple hotel options located in Lake Louise we will be staying somewhere...
