Our day hike was as perfect as a day can get in the beautiful, coveted region of Lake O'hara, where only 1000 permits are issued for the season during the lottery period. I was not awarded the permit however, guides have a special priority and have a great chance of getting in. Joel from Great Divide Nature Interpretation was our ticket there.

He is an outdoors expert and tailor's the day to your specific interests and needs. Living in the PNW, I'm not a stranger to hiking, hiking solo, backpacking and yet I can't say enough great things about my experience with him. He pointed things out that my husband and I would have missed. We learned about the local flora and fauna and so much more. He has fascinating stories on wildlife encounters over his years of living in the Canadian Rockies. He's a local legend and outdoors rockstar.

We'll be seeking out his expertise on all our future visits as we plan to be back to this area during...

We spent a few days in Banff and Lake Louise on a family vacation (grown kids, so 4 adults total) and had the absolute pleasure of booking two hiking days with Joel, and the experience was the highlight of our trip.

Joel is super knowledgeable about the National Parks and the whole area, and shares engaging information during the hike that we found fascinating. He's great at answering questions, great to chat with, and I never knew what he would pull from his pack next that would help us understand more about the plants or animals or mountains surrounding us. The hikes themselves are tailored to what you share is your fitness level and desired experience, and the natural beauty is incredible.

I cannot recommend enough to do a hike, a bird walk, a snowshoe, etc with Great Divide Nature Interpretation. Thank you, Joel, for a truly wonderful experience that we will...

I booked a tour with Joel and Nadine as part of a birthday surprise trip, and what a fascinating and memorable surprise it was! We went out into the woods and made our way through the stunning, snow-covered scenery while being wonderfully introduced to snowshoeing, which we consequently want to give another try soon! Joel has been a perfect and contagiously enthuastic nature guide for us, who enjoyed to share what seemed like only a tiny fraction of his knowledge about wildlife and flora in the Rockies. Even the self-made snacks were absolutely fantastic, so that he happily sent us the recipe together with some photos after the tour. There is so much more to see and learn that we hope to meet...

Joel led our snowshoeing expedition through the forests around Lake Louise. This was a highlight of our trip to Banff. Joel was a very professional, warm and engaging guide. As we snowshoed, our guide informed us about the local nature and history of the area surrounding Lake Louise, and the tour was topped off by receiving hot chocolate and home baked goods, delicious! I researched quite a bit into the various options for snowshoeing guides/services in the area prior to booking, and our experience exceeded expectations. We highly recommend the snowshoeing experience with Joel and we would love to explore more of Banff with Great Divide in future!

My snowshoe tour with Joel was the highlight of my time in Lake Louise. It’s so easy to rush through the sites and not take time to think about what is going on in the forest around you. I learned so much and couldn’t wait to share with family and friends. Joel was well-prepared, and more importantly he made sure that I was well-prepared for the trip. He was so knowledgeable and walking the snow covered route while learning about the surrounding ecosystem was an incredible experience. Homemade goodies and a hot tea while enjoying the views was a cozy touch. I highly recommend that you add this to your Lake Louise winter itinerary!
