If I could give a score with a "-" score, it still wouldn't be enough for what IMO is a dump, with atrocious customer service.
I found the inside to be dark and looking like it isn't well kept/cared for. Grungy. The smell was musty to me. In hindsight, I should have taken the vibe as warning and walked out. But I was eager to get my toddler an ice cream, and this shop seemed to be the only place offering some.
I asked the lady by the freezer for samples to be provided for the bubble gum and cotton candy, to make sure my young child would like and eat. It IS a tourist site, so one would think businesses care about offering a positive, memorable experience to customers. From what I experienced this doesn't seem to be the case for this shop.
The lady told me that they don't give samples. So, I asked if she could accommodate my request, pointing out that she could use 2 separate spoons. But she said the boss didn't allow it. I asked to speak with a manager, but he wasn't around.
Some other woman came over from the food side and sternly told me "WE DON"T DO SAMPLES! IT SAYS IT RIGHT THERE!" pointing to the cone holder that was on top of the ice cream freezer and then walking back towards the food section. I stared at the ice cream holder and said, "There's NOTHING there!?!"
The woman came back to the freezer and adamantly pointed at the front of the cone holder, shouting "RIGHT THERE !!!" Staring at a blank white cone holder I retorted: "There's NOTHING THERE!!" Annoyed, she pointed to the front of the cone holder again and said "RIGHT THERE! MAYBE OPEN YOUR EYES!" as she walked away. Shocked, as well as angry at her rudeness, I retorted "THERE IS NOTHING THERE! So, you don't tell me to open my eyes!"
She came back and looked at the cone holder and saw that the label is actually NOT in the FRONT (where one would see it), but rather on TOP of the cone holder. No one would see that tiny label ever, unless they go out of their way to take the cone holder off the freezer and hold under the eye level, to see the top of the cone holder.
After being treated like I'm stupid for not seeing a label that's put in the most absurd place, I decided there's places that provide a better experience to me and my young child. Those places are where I prefer to...
Read moreOne of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had — shocking for a Canadian tourist town.
I visited this ice cream shop expecting a friendly, welcoming experience — the kind Canada is known for — and instead got hit with a series of rude policies and inflexible attitudes that left a sour taste in my mouth.
First off, I wasn’t allowed to sample any flavors before committing to a scoop. What kind of ice cream shop doesn’t let you taste the flavors, especially in a tourist area where most people are trying it for the first time? It’s not just unwelcoming — it’s absurd.
Then, after purchasing a cone (without knowing what I was really getting), they gave such a massive scoop that it was spilling over. I simply asked for a small cup to transfer some of the extra into, and they tried to charge me an additional 50 cents. For a paper cup. After I just paid for a generous scoop they served. That’s nickel-and-diming at its worst.
To top it all off, my card was allegedly declined — even though the transaction showed up immediately as pending on my phone. When I asked for any proof that the transaction hadn’t gone through, they had nothing to show. No receipt, no error message, no effort to help. Just a flat refusal and zero accountability.
This place should be a shining example of Canadian hospitality in a tourist-heavy area. Instead, it felt more like a scammy cash grab with rude, disinterested service. If this is the kind of customer experience we’re offering visitors, we’ve got a serious image problem.
Do yourself a favor: skip this place. There are plenty of other spots where your money — and your presence — will actually be...
Read moreI had a rice bowl and mango lemon fruit tea combo for $16.99. Pretty good deal in Lake Louise. Portion is enough for myself, met my expectation. This is a fast food shop in a tourist area. It is unfair to compare them to any Japanese Ramen or Chinese Dim Sum restaurants in the city. Not sure about you guys, but even if I went to my usual favourite restaurants, their price is now higher. We all want the best value for our bucks/quids/Euro, but let's be real, the world is no longer the same as before. It will take time to come back to pre-covid level or never will. I agreed that the meat portion will need to improve for some customers (okay for me) but again thinking the impact of COVID had made on the retail businesses, I am not that harsh. It is nice to have hot food in cold and rainy weather. I love their bubble tea and the friendly staffs. After all, it's normal that most people will only leave negative feedback and too lazy to leave good ones. Unfair for the shops for sure. So give them a try yourself and keep managing your expectations and be fair. Have...
