STAY AWAY from the double rooms - severely outdated and outrageously overpriced! I would give 0 stars if possible. The Lake Louise Inn has multiple updated rooms and charges a premium for the location. While that is understandable, charging +C$550 for one night (June 2025) in what is essentially an outdated and run-down dorm room is appalling. Most of the reviews here fall in these two camps - praising reviews stayed in updated rooms, and disappointed reviews stayed in the double rooms (building 4). While the room pictures online are correct, they seem to be shot with a wide-angle lens and multiple amenities are not included that one would expect at that price point, even if not explicitly called out in the description. The lack of A/C is due to their environmental mandate, which I understand and appreciate. However, there are many issues that do not justify the outrageous price tag. The rooms are extremely small with limited storage/table space, and felt claustrophobic as there is only a single light (via bedside light between beds). There was no fridge or microwave, and the fan in the bathroom did not work. If not flushed “with determination”, the toilet kept running. A dirty portable heater was put in one corner (not in use, given summer), and an equally dirty fan took over the only table in the room to provide some airflow. The single window was the only source of fresh air and provided no privacy as it faced directly onto the walkway that people pass to get to their own rooms. Due to a lack of additional lights, we had to keep the curtains open and simply deal with the passing people. The building itself has no elevators and only narrow staircases to get to the (in our case) 3rd floor. The covers for the lights in the staircases were both broken, two plastic cups were left in the stairwell, and the handrail was broken in multiple spots (risk of splinters given it’s wooden), reinforcing the feeling of a hostel rather than a nice hotel with a semi-premium price tag. The walkways and staircases were all carpeted and very clearly worn down by years of constant use. Again, this is totally fine for a true inn or a hostel, but not if you pay +C$500 a night. Our only reason to book the Lake Louise Inn was the sunrise shuttle to Moraine Lake, which starts and ends right at the hotel. This setup and the very friendly staff were literally the only positive elements of our stay. What was supposed to be a “luxurious” mid-point of our travels turned into the low point of our accommodations, and I will advise anyone traveling to Lake Louise to book somewhere else, unless they have the funds to book the updated rooms.

Our family stayed in a 1 bedroom condo last week and were very happy with our stay. There is a queen sized bedroom and a queen sized Murphy bed in the living room. The bedroom was comfortable although there can be noise from the parking lot as it’s on the first floor so you can hear cars starting and people moving their bags to check out. The bathroom was nice and updated. The kitchen was nice and has a dishwasher — we just used the fridge and microwave. The Murphy bed was a foam mattress that was comfortable and fairly easy to take up/down. There’s a door to an outside area facing some trees with 2 plastic chairs for the unit. The location is very nice. You can see the mountains from the property. There are picnic tables in several locations which we used on 2 nights to eat our pizza from the restaurant on site. Our kids loved the mini golf (it was cute and a nice way to pass a little time at the end of the day). They also loved the pool which was warm and great for a swim before bed. We also used the complementary bikes on the morning we checked out. They had 20 inch, 24 inch and small and regular adult bikes and helmets. We went on the Bow River trail right around the corner from the hotel and had a lot of fun (takes about an hour to go down and back). Bikes are first come, first served. Unfortunately the power went out at 2 am in all of Lake Louise while we were there and didn’t come back on until 3-4 pm. We managed in the morning getting ready and went out for the day. The hotel offered complimentary continental breakfast because of the outage. (Of note there was also a power outage earlier in July in Lake Louise I read about when I was looking at the news). Overall we had a nice stay. The renovated rooms were nice and we enjoyed the ground/amenities. The staff was very nice also. There’s laundry in each building ($8 to wash/dry) that was convenient. For sandwiches for the trails I recommend the Trailhead Cafe around the corner (they also had breakfast sandwiches/items but we didn’t try).

I truly rarely leave one-star or bottom-tier reviews, but I cannot abide by being lied to and do not want others to suffer the same fate. I try to be grateful for pet friendly options and understand this is the budget option in Lake Louise, but it was galling to be lied to and experience an uncomfortable stay as a result. Dogs are allowed in certain rooms and buildings to be courteous to other guests coming through who may have allergies. I booked a Queen room and we were placed in the dog-friendly building on the ground floor. I politely asked for a second level floor and was told that there weren't any that allowed dogs - contrary to what the website indicates when you look at the pet-friendly buildings. We figured fine, we were only sleeping there and resting in between our daily activities, plus my dog is calm and isn't reactive to noise that we expected from the parking lot and street we faced.

Our room was absolutely not a Queen. My partner and I both sleep on Queen beds at home and therefore know the sizing. We also measured with our hiking poles using the mm markers, and they had squeezed two fulls into our room so that a) we had less space to move around and b) less space to comfortably sleep together. I let the front desk know that we measured it and felt that we had been misrepresented and should not be charged the queen pricing, and I didn't even get a shrug. She gave me a totally dispassionate look, the visualization of "okay, so what?" I tried to contact management and NEVER got a response to my email. I had booked through T-Mobile, and opened a ticket with them. They finally got back to me and said that the hotel gave me the correct room. I wish I had taken pictures of our measurements and the room to prove that we absolutely did not get the room we paid for.

The place we needed just for rest ended up being hardly restful at all as a result. To boot, the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything from the rooms beside you and above you. We were there during shoulder season, and I cannot imagine how much noisier it is during the high season. Parking was also difficult to find as the lot fills up quickly, so I'm not sure if there's overflow during high season. The resort/amenities fees were not worth the charge, as it covers old board games and DVDs, a pitiful "mini golf" course that is just a few strips of astro turf among bark in between buildings, and bicycles that are poorly maintained. My partner is a bicyclist who knows from the basics of reading PSI to when the gears aren't properly working (my brake was also sounding iffy). The manager came out all huffy when my parnter said that the tire was flat and had just politely requested a pump.

I absolutely regretted booking for our entire stay while visiting Banff, and sadly recommend you look elsewhere if you need...

Pound for pound the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

The rooms are horrendous. While I paid for the "cheapest" room, it still cost close to £300 per night. I've stayed in 100s of hotels in over 30 countries - this room was by far the worst, the rooms can only be compared to those within a motel you'd never willingly stay in. Wallpaper peeling from the walls, horrifically dated, disgusting bathroom. It genuinely makes a UK Travelodge feel like The Ritz.

Our bedding and towels had stains all over. There were hairs in our bath. They charge an additional resort fee on top of their extortionate room rates, one of the justifications is for "high speed internet". Our room internet access fluctuated between zero and 0.5mb/s which would disconnect every 2 minutes. We could also hear every footstep the people made in the room above...

Lake Louise Inn benefits from a lack of alternate choice in Lake Louise, it's a truly amazing location. But please don't fall for this. We also stayed in Banff & Canmore on our trip to Alberta, at two hotels that were cheaper and by no means luxury, but by comparison to Lake Louise Inn felt 5*. If we came to the area again, we'd stay in Banff or Canmore instead. We spent barely any time in the room due to the delights of the area - and usually I'm not fussed about the hotel rooms, this is the first negative review I've ever made, but for the price, this felt like a disgrace - daylight robbery at its finest.

I think what almost makes it feel worse is the staff are generally great, especially those in the restaurants. We liked both the pizza and Legends restaurant, we enjoyed our meals there. The hotel reception from the outside and inside is lovely, super welcoming and cozy.

The hotel rooms are in desperate need of serious refurbishment - when you are charging that much, this cannot be the best you can offer paying customers. For the most part, the room was purely there to sleep and get ready in the morning and yet it still managed to completely tarnish our view of the hotel, we certainly wouldn't stay again.

*We did complain to staff, mostly regarding the issues with dirty bedding and towels - they were kind enough to offer us a partial refund. We were grateful for this, but this didn't impact our views...
