I had spent a few weeks looking for an affordable accommodation for myself, my wife, and my friend for an early March snowboarding trip in Canada. We wanted a kitchenette and at least two beds. Out of the blue, a web search pulled up Karen's small BnB in downtown Banff... and within minutes of reading about it, I booked it, crossing my fingers that my companions would be happy with my choice. Booking.com had an easy cancellation policy. We definitely didn't need it!||||Boy, did Karen's hospitality impress us. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was the perfect size for three adults who are comfortable sharing lodging. Upon arrival, Karen gave us all the information we needed about the cabin, plus a map upon which she marked numerous tips for affordable food and drink (Banff can otherwise be somewhat expensive). She immediately understood that we were here for the slopes, not fine dining, and had a wealth of knowledge to share.||||There was a reserved parking spot directly next to the cabin, making it easy for us to load and unload our gear from our rental SUV each day, even when it was sub-zero Farenheit. ||||Each morning we were treated to Karen's famous breakfasts. Each breakfast over the course of 4 days was different, and Karen always insisted on packing us extra homemade muffins in paper bags on our way out into the snow. Delicious, and oh so filling. The hearty breakfasts enabled us to snack our way through the day until dinner, even while snowboarding. My fave was the eggs benedict - that Hollandaise sauce was to die for. ||||Come evening, we were never more than four blocks from a dive bar or cheap eats. Groceries, alcohol, and a drugstore were across the street. The pickup for the SkiBig3 buses was two blocks away. Sporting goods stores galore.||||Thanks to Karen, our stay in Banff was superb, not to mention eminently affordable, and we always felt very well cared for. Don't hesitate - book your next stay in Banff here - but please don't spread the word too far. We want to be able to easily stay here again next year. Thank you Karen!! and hope to see...
Read moreIf you are looking for five star accommodations, look elsewhere as that misses the whole point of this place. This is down home basic with clean comfortable rooms, semi-private bath across the hall (but is for your room ONLY), no TV, no hair dryer electrical outlet in the bathroom and a new addition - the house dog (which every B&B should have IMO).||||I was skeptical when we first arrived - room was fairly small, bathroom was very dated with antique but functional fixtures. However, after our first night and getting acclimated I was in love with the place. Karen is as warm an innkeeper as you will encounter and her breakfast meals are legendary (hint, she takes requests the day before). She not only fed us an unlimited amount of food at breakfast, she sent us on the way with four of her chocolate chip muffins. Unfortunately, my wife saw the handoff and claimed one of the...
Read moreWe spent 2 nights in the Stampede Room upstairs in the main Holiday Lodge building on our recent holiday to Canada which is near the town centre of Banff.||||The room suited our needs perfectly and although it had a separate private bathroom across the hall, this was not a problem to us.||||Breakfasts were fantastic with a choice of meats, cheeses, fruits etc and there were muffins to take away for a lunch time snack (although tbh they didn't last that long).||||Karen has lots of useful information for guests and is a great host.||||We hope to return to the area soon and would love to stay here again for a bit...
