We have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years (~7 visits) and its always been a 5/5. Unfortunately we stayed there this past long weekend and it will be our last. We have always parked on site, with out issue, and we were unaware that even though it is advertised as "parking available" the reality is it is first come/first serve, and parking options are limited. When I was checked in and told to park on the street, blocks away, I was taken back. I explained that one of the reasons we like to stay here is that we can park on site. The nice young lady went to ask the guy that was working with her and he walked over and said there is "no parking, go park on the street". I asked if there was anything he could do, and his response was "we will cancel your reservation". I explained that I thought it said online that parking was available, and he continued to say, "No, you can park on the street, or we can cancel your reservation and give you back your money". Thanks bud, that is super helpful at 9:00 pm on Saturday, in Banff, on Aug long weekend. First of all, there is no where else to stay, and you know that, and second, there is no where to park on the street, and you know that too! We ended up having to park about 1km away and walk back. All and all, love the hotel, but this guy was such a total a$$ hole to deal with we will never come back. I wasn't even that upset about the parking I was just shocked at how rude this guy was. At the end of the day I think you guys could do better at making it obvious that parking is very limited, as I did feel a little like it was a "bait and switch" but all good. We found a spot for the car for the weekend and it wasn't that big of a deal. But your front desk attendant needs an...
Read moreI had the opportunity to stay here with my 13-year-old dog. His hips are very bad so I was worried about parking and taking him out. No need to worry. We did not have to climb up any stairs like other hotels in the past. He had a lovely time and it's right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants. Great clean hotel and the front desk was amazing. One of the young ladies was so helpful every time I had a question about the easiest way to take my dog outside or whatever the case was. She did not try to ignore me when I walked by like some hotels. She engaged with me everytime I came by the front desk. They also have a great little espresso machine in the room that I actually want at home now. Nestle version Nespresso I believe. Wow. I could keep rambling on about how awesome this place is but you are gonna have to check it out yourself. IGA Is within a few meters/feet away from the hotel back entrance which was so convenient. Gas station as well in the back. Great little coffee shop and a restaurant I did not try. The food smelt and looked great though. If your in Banff and want a great stay look no further. Pursuit runs this amazing Hotel and I will definitely be back when I come back to Banff. Headed to Jasper now to another Pursuit property. Elk + Avenue see you later and thank you all so much for the amazing stay! Also the pic is of my dog after long day in the the comfortable bed he loved. He didn't get up for hours! At home he constantly gets up so that was great for his hips. This trip is for my boy Bandit since it could be our last trip together due to his age. Thank you all so much at Elk + Avenue for this memorable stay I will...
Read moreExcellent place to stay in Banff. Very reasonably priced and close to all the downtown action.
There were a lot of good (and some not so good), so I'll just note some items in no particular order.
We made reservations about a month out. They said pool/spa was under construction, but should be reopened by our stay. I emailed about letting us know, but this didn't happen until like two days before the arrival. Needless to say, we weren't going to make new reservations at that late date. And, the pool project wasn't completed, so no use allowed. However, thus was addressed by free passes to the Banff Hot Springs, which sufficed.
Check in staff was friendly and efficient. Staff always smiled and greeted you as you went past.
The room (I think 272) was large, shocked with a fridge and coffee and tea. The large wall of windows was great! We saw deer and coyote walking right down the street.
The restroom was a little understocked. We paid for an extra person, yet only received two towels, rags, etc. Definitely a little inconvenient. The soap and shampoo in the dispenser, although natural, didn't seem to provide the cleaning that most of these products provide. And the smell? I won't comment on that one!
Overall, a great hotel with a wonderful location. We didn't try any of the restaurants as they seemed somewhat overpriced. Would we stay again, For sure!
Parking was underground and decent. Low ceilings are a concern! Another last minute charge was for this parking. Just announce it early with the room charge... These extra changes like this are one of the reasons travellers...
