We ordered pineapple juice for our 2-year-old today. After drinking the juice, within 10-15 minutes, his face and the back of his neck became very red, and his body temperature seemed higher than usual. He doesn’t have an allergy to pineapple juice, as we regularly give him pineapple. We suspect there may have been alcohol in the juice, or the pineapple was expired (it didn’t smell fresh).

The server showed us the pineapple juice pump container, which resembled a cocktail dispenser, and there was no label indicating when it expired. We spoke to the assistant manager at the restaurant, who told us the juice was new and had been opened that day. When we asked to see the expiration date on the container, he checked three times and eventually opened a new can of pineapple juice in front of us. When we asked about the date on the juice they had served us, he changed his story and said he wasn’t sure when the can was opened.

We called an ambulance and the police. Thankfully, after two hours, our child returned to normal, but we wasted the entire day because of their mistake.

1. No one from the staff or management apologized or took responsibility for the situation. They did not take the incident seriously (the manager only said they were very busy).
2. The customer service was very poor; the server ignored our attempts to communicate.
3. There were no labels or clear information about the juice’s freshness and expiration date.
