Sad to write a bad review for a restaurant I love so much, but after visiting this location on two separate occasions and receiving not the best of service I think it's needed. My partner, my mother and myself visited this location last night(July 27th) and were unsatisfied with our server along with the food we ordered. We asked for refills on our drinks and another loaf of bread, they weren't brought to our table until we managed to flag down our waitress to bring us our bill which was then all brought at once even though we were obviously ready to leave. My pasta and chicken were cold in the center, my partners steak was more fat than meat. Upon realizing, we tried flagging down our waitress to bring the problems to her attention but she rarely came to check on us after being seated and having our order taken by another server who was originally helping ours. I asked for pepper when our meals were brought out, she didn't return with any until I was 2 ravioli away from finishing my plate which kind of defeated the purpose. She stated it being her first night serving alone, but perhaps there could have been a better time besides a busy Saturday night to have your first solo night without asking for help after being overwhelmed with tables. There was no one standing at the front host counter to notify of our bad service when we left the establishment. After this experience and the previous bad visit back in March, I think I'll choose somewhere else while in banff and stick to dining at the other old spaghetti...
Read moreWent in for lunch The place has an old school decoration, lighting is a bit dark( I think it’s really good for diner) servers is friendly, polite and efficient (Matt) Above average dish serving speed, quite impressive for the amount of people having lunch.
-Bread: 5/5 freshly baked bread, crispy crust and very soft on the inside, you can instantly smell the yeast when you cut it open. Served with the best garlic butter in banff, the flavor of this combination is fantastic! -clam chowder soup: 5/5 perfectly seasoned, delightful presentation. You can taste all the ingredients in the soup, mixture of clam and potatoes, really highlights the flavor. it is a little bland but it’s perfect for an appetizer. -sautéed mushrooms: 5/5 perfectly cooked, the salt and black pepper makes the mushrooms’ flavor explode in you mouth. A wonderful appetizer -steamed mussels: 3/5 mussel size are inconsistent. Salty, can’t really taste flavor of other ingredients because of it. Decent size dish , but don’t really matches the quality of this restaurant impossible meatball spaghetti: 4/5 nothing really impossible about it (I was expecting a giant meat ball😂) it is what a regular spaghetti would taste like, however the meatballs are quite delicious. Unexpectedly tasty when mixed with the mushrooms from our appetizer
There is no washroom inside, but it gives clear direction of the public restroom in the mall. So no comments here.
Over all a great place, spent about 80 cad for two ppl (dessert...
Read moreWhenever we’re in Banff, our kids insist on one thing: a meal at The Old Spaghetti Factory. It’s become a tradition for our family, and for good reason. This cozy, casual spot is a fantastic choice for families and larger groups looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
The staff are consistently welcoming and attentive, especially with children. You can tell they’re used to hosting families—they’re patient, kind, and genuinely make the dining experience enjoyable for everyone. The kids’ menu is generous, both in portion size and pricing, which is a rare find in Banff or anywhere, in 2025.
The food is hearty and comforting—classic pasta dishes served in generous portions. It’s not gourmet, but that’s part of the charm. It’s simple, satisfying, and perfect for lunch or dinner after a day of exploring. I usually finish my meals when dining out, but here I leave feeling full and content. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, especially considering Banff’s tourist-heavy location.
It’s tucked away on the second floor of a mall, which can make it a little tricky to find at first. Once inside, you’ll enjoy views overlooking a bustling side street, adding a bit of character to the experience.
Great value for families Kid-friendly staff and menu Generous portions and fair prices Comfortable, no-frills dining
If you’re traveling with kids or just want a reliable, relaxed meal in Banff, The Old Spaghetti Factory is a solid choice that never...
