I stayed in this hotel Tuesday - Friday in early June, and those details matter in my rating. The room I got was the king suite which is absolutely beautiful and so luxurious. The staff was wonderful and helped me out when my key didn’t work about four different times (don’t store it near a phone or credit card). Anyway Tuesday - Thursday morning I loved the hotel and the room. It was very spacious, newly renovated, super quiet, had great large dark blinds, a Samsung tv I could cast my phone to… truly wonderful. Then Thursday night came and the bar below my room was open for the weekend. The spare the details, my room was vibrating until 3:45am despite the bar closing at 2am. I was so frustrated and called the hotel many times for help —I even called the police. In no world should that room be rented out on the weekend in the summer, it’s like trying to sleep IN a nightclub. To give credit to the hotel, they did not charge me for my final night but for most folks, myself included, that’s frustration spoils the trip even if you don’t end up paying.
I write this in my review to hopefully warn others —WONDERFUL experience Monday-Thursday morning, probably great in the winter as well, but not appropriate for when the...
Read moreThe positives:|-The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, but very soft. Nice bathroom products provided. The shower water pressure was crazy good, so much so that the tub drain couldn't keep up! A mini-fridge and coffee/tea are provided. The location is great. You can walk to almost everything Dawson has to offer. The interior of the building is lovely and does feel like you walked back in time. ||Check in is at the Downtown Hotel, just around the corner. It was easy enough. Never saw a staff member after checking in. The building is secure with room card access only for all the doors. All the rooms require carrying your bags up at least one flight of stairs. ||The A/C worked well. It's a bit rare to have in Dawson! ||The major negative: The noise! The walls between the rooms are paper thin. We could hear every word, cough, sneeze, the television etc. from the next room. Thursday to Saturday the Midnight Sun Lounge is open with very loud music, karaoke blasting from early until 2am. No chance of decent sleep, especially in a first floor room. It was slightly muffled on the second floor. It would be quieter during the week. I wouldn't stay here again...
Read moreThis unique hotel is as described, a personality all its own. An old building with a history to discover,I will leave that to you to discover. A well restored main floor to reflect the old flavor, look at the ceiling. A small kitchen area with a microwave and a fridge for use of clients.| A set of stairs to climb which takes you to a well restored second floor with secure access to your room. Room well appointed with 2 queen beds, a refrigerator, the usual coffee pot, and large screen t.v. which was the only drawback trying to figure out how that operated. Beds extremely comfortable and pillows you could lose yourself in. Bathoom well done and a shower head you would want to take home. |Very quiet with no noise from other rooms or from outside. Room darrkening curtains as it seems it never gets dark in Dawson City. The location is such that it is within walking distance of everything |One drawback is that there is no front desk to register at so you have to go to the sister property "The Downtown" a coast hotel located a small block away. |All and all we had a wonderful stay and...
