We arrived tired from our travels and eager to get to bed. As I pulled back my covers I immediately noticed a spot of blood just under the pillow. I decided to sleep on top of the bedding that night using the extra blanket provided in the closet (do they even clean those?!). The next morning I was the first to take a shower. The water ran for four minutes before getting a shade above lukewarm (we were on the 16th floor) and I commenced my very uncomfortable shower. Straight ahead on the tile wall was a rather large patch of black hair clippings. To my left, one long black hair clinging onto the white tile. (I have short light blond hair). The shower never did regain any warmth, nor did it improve over our three day stay. The water in the bathroom sink, however, was hot enough to boil pasta. There was a glob of gooey toothpaste left from a previous guest near the towel bar. We booked as four guests and were only given three towels. I called the first morning to request one more and got it right away, but each day after housekeeping came and went, only three new towels. We made a game out of it ….. the loser had to use a used towel! I left a friendly note for the housekeeper about the blood stain and asked if she would please change the linens. She did (or perhaps she just sprayed something on it and gave it a scrub?). As I eagerly climbed into the bed the second night I was once again horrified as at the very top of the bedding coverlet where they fold it over, was another blood spot but this time a strange yellowish stain accompanied it. I ripped it off and once again grabbed the extra blanket from the closet and went off to sleep. I threw the coverlet into the bathtub the next morning. Housekeeping took it away but never replaced it, leaving me a third night having to pull out the extra blanket from the closet. As we always do before checking out of our hotel rooms, we ‘toss’ the bedding to ensure none of our belongings got tangled up with it. This time a pink, heart shaped stone came flying out of the bedding. My son picked it up and handed it to me assuming it was ours. None of us had ever seen it before.
I am 100% convinced the housekeeping staff did not change the bedding in between my stay and the previous guest. They simply smoothed and straightened it out. I can get past the odd stranger’s hair on a shower wall, gross as it is, but there was an excess that implies a lack of due diligence on both the housekeeping and their supervisors.
The hotel was 100% booked during our stay and a room change simply was not possible and so felt the most proactive solution was to kindly ask for a linen change along with leaving a tip. I find it hard to believe that even after housekeeping supposedly replaced my linens that the ‘clean’ ones would contain even more bodily fluid remnants. (And no it wasn’t from us! We were with our kids!).
The room is nice enough. Spacious enough for two adults and two kids. The mini fridge in the room was cold enough that it ruined all of our food by freezing it all (the temperature setting was the warmest), so that was a bummer. The facility is beautiful with a great pool, coffee bar and a high end restaurant. I tried ordering room service 2 hours before the restaurant closed and got a notification letting me know all delivery time slots had been taken for the day. So I tried again, this time choosing to go down and pick it up from the restaurant. I got the same notification. So, room service or food pick up cannot be relied upon. My suggestion is to order earlier in the day and choose the later delivery or pick up time so you don’t get bumped out of queue. Lots of parking. Central location.
I’m a reasonable person that is perfectly okay with less than perfect, but I’ve had cleaner rooms in two...
Read moreDisappointing and was not like a previous stay here few years ago. Seems the attention to detail and quality has gone down hill.
First of all, the place is a bit worn now. I had provincial suite p-140 on the ground level. There is ZERO heating which I found out only through the maintenance team after the first night of freezing. They said the boilers were not on at this time of the year even though temperatures dipped to 9 degree celcius and the two sliding door walls were not insulated. They brought an electric portable heater which took a few hours to heat the room but don't turn it off! The rooms get icy if this isn't on. Question: why didn't front desk ask me if I'd like a portable heater and inform me of the heating being disabled? This lack of detail in service is astonishing.
The toilet in this room doesn't flush well and I didn't want to have maintenance come to work on it nor was I wanting to move rooms so I just bared with it. I have to hold it down for 20 seconds for a full flush, but if I hold it too long, the water tank starts spilling water. Question: does housekeeping alert maintenance when they get a room ready on such a glaring deficiency?
Because there is parking slots literally 2 feet away from my sliding door wall, big trucks are parked literally 4 feet from my head when on the bed. These guys are workers so early morning revving woke me up around 6ish every morning. I don't think the provincial suites with the extra cost to be worth it for this inconvenience alone. If I had known parking was in front of it, I'd have opted for something on the tower.
I liked that there was a restaurant with good food, that was great!. I loved the starbucks in the morning, but this wasn't a full starbucks but good enough for the first cup.
Housekeeping was a hit or miss to get service. I didn't have the "clean my room" sign to put up on my door so after the first night I let the guy at the front desk know I'd want service in the morning as I went out. He said he'd let housekeeping know. In the early afternoon I came back to find the room was not serviced. I flagged down housekeeping in our area and she said she can't help me and I'd have to call or walk over to front desk. I walked over and they said I should have the sign up in the morning, so I explained I didn't have it and to kindly request service. This was sometime around 3 or 4pm.
I went back out to eat and travel around and came back to the room being cleaned with new towels and sheets which was perfect.
Overall, for 3 nights I paid around $1100 and felt that for next time I'll try a different property for better value. I'm not sure if I'll return to the sandman signature again. Combination of freezing and waking up to large trucks warming up early morning... I can't justify this cost.
Location was great and parking was...
Read moreOlder, partially renovated but very much still run-down (dirty, peeling wallpaper, dirty flooring, especially in corners, shredded carpet, super dusty tables and fixtures); 1 of our 3 rooms was not properly cleaned (found a body spray bottle by the bed and dirty bathroom mirror); the decor is very dark which I would normally like but the lighting is so bad it's almost difficult to see in the hallways and even in the rooms and bathrooms; confusing, disjointed layout with our part of the building requiring use of a small, old, dirty elevator, multiple hallways, ramps and doors (my grandfather really struggled with the long walk to his room); confusing signage (trying to find the path to Denny's); there was trash and dead plants all around the exterior; my grandparents' room overlooked a big square section of dirt with a couple of rags blowing around; our room had greasy handprints on the headboard and only 1 washcloth; room had Aac, got cool but not cool enough- remained slightly warm and stuffy thru the night; staff was very friendly but not on the same page (We checked in early as 1 of 3 rooms was ready. We were told to come back later and see if our other 2 rooms were ready and that they gad been "locked in" to ensure we would all be close together. This was expected, as check in was not until 3pm and we were thankful to be able to have the 1 room. However, we came back at 5pm and first they couldn't find the remaining 2 rooms at all. After obtaining some assistance, they found the rest of my reservation but another staff member supposedly removed the lock so one of our rooms has to be off by itself down a different hallway so we had to drag our luggage from room 1 to room 3 thru the labyrinth again; at check-in, staff asked me if we needed an airport shuttle and for how many people and took down that we had 6 people for the 6am airport shuttle. However, when I called later to change the time, I was told all shuttles are first come first serve and they did not need to know our plans). The trash in the elevator yesterday was still there this morning. Overall, I paid $182/room via Expedia which was less than anywhere else in the airport vicinity. It got the job done, staff was friendly and helpful, but I would not stay here again simply due to the condition of...
