2023 04 06 6.30 pm Ashka was the server. Today, which was good Friday holiday was my 2nd visit to Hakka Momo and yet again it was disappointing service. I was there with my family of 5 and the server got our soup order wrong. My first visit was early February when the server got our soup order wrong, he tried 3 times before they managed to get correct soups to the table. This evening it was a different server, Ashka a young lady. She also brought the wrong soup. I ordered Hot & sour soup with veg chap and we also ordered 2 additional varieties to be shared between the remaining 4 people in our family. Ashka, brought 1 soup variety split into 4 bowls. Plus my Hot & sour soup without veg chap. When we complained, she proceed to fix our order at our table, instead of taking it back into the kitchen and sorting it out. Not professional at all. Secondly she said, I will not charge you for this yet, at the end she did. My receipt is attached. When the correct soup finally came, needless to say it was lukewarm, and not hot as soup should be. Please train your servers to be more attentive to customers needs, as any business, it's ONLY successful if it has happy customers. Servers also need to improve their communication with the kitchen to get the correct food to the tables. We are very fortunate to have traveled the world, and can describe ourselves as an international family, because my wife is from Nairobi, Kenya and a great cook, I am from Scotland, UK, both have Indian origins and have tried indian/fusion food in 4 continents. Very sad to say that the service we have experienced in my 2 visits to your restaurant is the worst I have experienced. The food itself was good, could be better in the sense it appeared to be rushed in preparation. The momos looked nothing like your pictures, they were more like Pergogies from a bag, bought from superstore and boiled. The service was very poor, which is sad because a customer will witness the service before he even gets to taste your food. First impressions last....some food...
Read moreI went in today at around 12:30 pm for the first time (Sunday, February 19, 2023) after having seen the sign. There was no other customer there. I ordered one order of goat momo (dumplings) with medium to hot sauce at the recommendation of the staff. He informed me that it would take 15 minutes. I decided to wait at the restaurant. The same staff went inside the kitchen. I saw him at the stove (side view) that he was heating up some sauce. As he was doing so, he placed his finger in the sauce, placed it in his mouth and tasted it. He proceeded to do so twice. This was the first RED FLAG. When the steamed momo were ready, I saw him take the temperature of each momo with a food thermometer. He then came out of the kitchen and found a bowl which he took back into the kitchen. He proceeded to take the momo out of the steamer with his BARE HAND and placed them into the bowl. At this point, I decided to leave the restaurant without the takeout which I paid for with a 15% tip. Coming out of Covid, I am shocked at the hygienic conditions of how the staff handles the food. I hope no one has got sick from eating...
Read moreSmall and informal but tasty food! We’ve never been to that part of the world so cannot attest to its authenticity but it certainly was yummy. Don’t sit at the booth on the left. The table was oddly far from the seating. We ordered everything mild-medium.
We ordered the chicken momo and the server offered to mix steamed and deep fried for us to try. We are used to the siu loong baos so the deep fried was a treat. The sauce was good (spicy and non spicy side).
The paneer momo butter sauce was my favourite. Great texture and the sauce was very flavourful with the perfect spice mix.
The classic street chowmein with chicken was another one of our groups favourite. Done as a dry noodle it definitely had a special flavour that I’m not sure I had encountered previously.
The cauliflower 65 had a nice soft and crunchy texture with a tasty sauce. This was the favourite of another one of our members.
The lollipop chicken was good but sort of expensive for what you got.
Overall good food and we will be back to try the rest...
