I've stayed at Tofino Resort + Marina multiple times over the years, and it continues to be my go-to in Tofino for its unbeatable location, comfort, and convenience. Check-in is always quick and easy, and the front desk staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and happy to help with anything you need—which sets the tone for a great stay. On my most recent trip, I booked two unforgettable tours through the Adventure Centre: a visit to the hot springs and a whale watching excursion. The Adventure Centre staff were, as always, kind, knowledgeable, and professional. On the hot springs tour, our captain Isaac went out of his way to detour for some wildlife viewing, which was a real highlight. Then during the whale tour, a pod of transient orcas known as the Runaways came into the inlet, and we were lucky enough to spend nearly an hour with them. Absolutely magical. The hotel rooms are comfortable and modern, with everything you need—including a great bed for recharging after a day outdoors. Rooms with a harbour view are amazing (aren’t they always?), but even if you don’t book one, it only takes a few steps outside your door to stroll around the property with your morning coffee and take in the beautiful surroundings. Being right on the harbour is a huge bonus. Parking is generally easy, with a good-sized lot onsite. During this stay, there was a charity event happening in the overflow lot. While it meant taking an extra minute to find a spot, it was a very minor inconvenience for something that supports Tofino’s amazing local community. Plus, I got to enjoy live music from an incredible band right from my balcony! Not only is the resort beautiful and well-run, but the fact that they host community events like this speaks volumes about their values and commitment to the area. The resort is located on a hill (that harbourfront view doesn’t come for free!), so be prepared for a bit of an uphill walk when heading into town. I actually enjoy it—it’s a great way to start the day. I’d usually grab a quick coffee, head out by 9am, and soak up all the adventure Tofino has to offer. This place keeps me coming back. Great people, incredible location, and a business that truly supports its community—what more could you ask for?

We stayed in the newer (black) building, in a king suite on the top floor. Room was clean and spacious with nice amenities, and the bed was comfortable. Good water view from the balcony. One small point of caution: the interior designer for their new king suites somehow decided that it would be clever for the beds to rest on a platform with sharp edges that extend several inches beyond the dimensions of the mattress. You can tell that guests have already injured themselves because the corners of the platform are protected by strips of soft rubber foam tape. But the edges between the corners are not protected. So inevitably, I collide into the sharp protruding edge at decent velocity and punctured (yes, puncture) a notch into my shin that caused me to crash to the ground like a Premier League player trying to earn a penalty shot, clutching my shin in agony. I'm pretty sure that my soul left my body because in I can envision the whole thing now from a perspective when I'm floating above. But thankfully I rejoined this mortal realm and hobbled off to the lobby to get directions to the ice machine to reduce the swelling. I awkwardly slept on my back that night, because I felt that it would be rude to bleed on the nice beds in this resort. The next morning I noticed that the shock of the impact somehow caused all the surrounding hairs on my leg to instantly fall out, which I thought was pretty cool actually. It's a few weeks later now, and this stupid puncture just won't heal. It's like an abyss of scarred, crushed tissue that extends all the way to the bone. But I'm told that's kind of normal so I'm just waiting patiently. It's 'pants season' for the next few months anyways; hopefully it all heals up by spring so people can enjoy the sight of my sexy gams again. But please don't let this detract you from staying at Tofino Resort + Marina! I had an otherwise lovely stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody. Just watch your shins around those damned beds. I originally gave a five-star review, but on advice from my right shin have reduced it to four.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Great location, good room, but parking issue overshadows it As a former travel agent with ACTA Canada and a hospitality/business graduate who has conducted numerous hotel inspections across North America, I know how important it is for hotels to deliver what they advertise — and the legal obligations that come with it. We recently stayed at the Marina Hotel in Tofino for our anniversary with our two small dogs. The location right on the marina is excellent, and Shelter Restaurant was a definite highlight — great food and service! Our room was clean and perfectly fine for a 3-star property: comfortable king bed, clean bathroom, and enough space for the dogs to feel at home. However, the parking situation is a serious concern. The hotel clearly advertises on-site parking for guests, but this is not guaranteed in practice — which is misleading. We spent over 30 minutes circling for a spot, which is unacceptable at $400 per night. Worse, the lot is not accessible-friendly: there’s a steep incline that is challenging for anyone with mobility issues. When we asked the front desk for help, we were told management was not on-site and there was no assistance offered — not even alternative options or a simple solution. Guests should not be left to worry about this, especially when they have mobility challenges and are on vacation. I strongly encourage the Marina Hotel to address this misleading claim about parking availability and put in place a clear, reliable plan for guests. This is basic hospitality — and part of their legal duty to provide what is advertised. Until then, I’d recommend this hotel only to guests who are prepared to hunt for parking and navigate the steep terrain — which is not ideal for everyone. A beautiful location and good restaurant can’t fully make up for this oversight. — Vania G.

I heard about this place through a friend and booked it for a long weekend stay over my partner's birthday/New Year's. A mix up ruined our plans a bit; whoever I booked with on the phone misheard that I wanted to check out on the 31, not the 1, and I made the giant mistake of not double checking my confirmation email. So when we logged in, we were faced with the tough choice of leaving early or paying $189+tax to downgrade to a smaller room (we chose to check out). Because of this experience I have mixed feelings about our stay.

Pros: Great spot in town Two spots to eat right on the property 1909 is a fantastic spot for a nice dinner, and one of the only places in Tofino with more than two options for vegetarians The Hatch Pub also has good food and a fun atmosphere. Great Kale salad Nice, new rooms, modern design The staff was going to help me arrange a special treat of a cheese + fruit plate plus beer to arrive on his birthday (I had to cancel this, but I appreciate that the opportunity was there) They respected our privacy knocker being on the whole time and understood that we wanted to re-use our towels, didn't want/need daily service

Cons: The rooms are noisy, at least ours was with a grade A stomper pacing back and forth above us and I overheard another guest knocking on someone else's door in the hallway and asking those people to keep it down King size bed, while roomy, was hard as a rock and the pillows are so flimsy you have zero support for your neck, so if you have neck or back issues, bring your pillow from home If you don't book a suite, you don't get bath robes, which was disappointing, especially since they knew we were celebrating a birthday, I had hoped they'd go the extra service mile The mix up we had was definitely a 50-50 issue, but I wasn't really feeling that they understood how disappointing it was for me to tell him sorry, we have to check out on your birthday and the surprise I was arranging for you is gone too — not very apologetic, didn't try to do anything to make it better for us except offer the room change The restaurant staff were very busy, so if you need to be somewhere fast, ask for your bill at the same time you order

I would go back for another stay, being cautiously optimistic, triple checking our confirmation, and hoping we get a top floor suite for robes...

The front desk was not very welcoming when we checked in, though we gave an advance notice that we would be checking in late past midnight. He did not small talk or explain anything. Throughput the stay we did not meet the same person and other staffs were more friendly and doing alright. The room was clean but not much decor or details. We didn't receive any services besides room cleaning. I wouldn't call it a "resort" but it's just a hotel or apartment. The location was great with a short walk to downtown Tofino. Overall still a nice (but not great) place to stay.

However, I need to complain about their adventure center. They had no knowledge about the fishing charter they provided and how the fish processing worked.

We went talking with the adventure center and had a great first impression since the staffs were very welcoming and able to fit in a ultimate adventure and fishing charter on the same day for us. We went on the ultimate adventure at 7 am on the next day. The guide was a bit cold at the start but later showed his expertise and fantastic ability to find bears and whales. We were told that our fishing charter started at 11 am when we scheduled it, but not until I confirmed with them again I was told that it was changed to 11:30 am. In the fishing charter, we were not very lucky with 2 stonefish at the first hour and nothing for the remaining four hours. It might be luck but could also be the lack of experience of our young guide. When we came back, the fishing guide started processing the fish without confirming how we'd like it processed though he mentioned different options at the start. We were told that the fish market nextdoor could help vacuum packaging the fillets, but the front desk knew nothing about it and we had to go ask ourselves with 10 minutes before they were closed. I was very shocked when the fish market told me that the fish needed to be whole for them to take it. If not the staff of fish market seeing my desperate face and pity me to still help me out, I would have fish fillets that I could do nothing about and had to spoil. I was definitely not their first guest to do fishing charter and needed help with fish processing, but both the fishing guide and front desk of adventure center did a terrible job making sure their guest could bring home...
