Tofino Motel Harborview — Hotel in Tofino

I booked a room with 2 beds for a specific reason. Half an hour before check in time, I received a call saying we had been moved to a different but similar room due to some damage to the room we booked. We happily accepted that.

Due to some travel delays and getting lost, we arrived at the property at 11.30pm after a very tiring day. There was nobody at reception. We called the property multiple times with no answer. We then found our keys hanging on a wall which is a security concern. We then proceeded to our room at 12am only to find one bed in the room only. We were shocked as there had been no mention that our new room had only one bed instead of two.

After calling the after hours number, we were told the manager will call us back. This whole process took another hour. At 12.30am, we were told to go to a property at a different location so that we can get the room with 2 beds (which we paid for).

At this point, we met with the manager and instead of owning the mistake and apologizing for this error, his response was “we can move you to a different room since you weren't satisfied with the room provided”.

My concern is that this is not an issue of satisfaction. Firstly, we weren't provided with the original room we booked. Secondly, there was no indication that the alternate room had one bed only. Thirdly, there was no service, no responsibility taken and no apology offered.

Given the timing of our stay for essential travel only, the property was mostly vacant with only 2 cars parked. We felt we could have been offered a second room at the same property instead of having to travel to a different property for a family room at 12.30am.

We booked our stay here at the last minute — it was the only place available during spring break — and honestly, our expectations were not high.

But we were SHOCKED.

It’s so good. Like… so so good.

I can only speak to Room 102 (where we stayed), but it ticked every single box — and then some. The view? Gorgeous. The room? Super clean. Beds? Comfy. Bathroom? Spacious. The coffee was decent (important!). We were literally a half block from town, so everything was walkable. There was plenty of hot water, and the shower pressure never wavered. Wifi was solid and easy to connect to.

Were the beds a little squeaky? Sure — but honestly, when aren’t hotel beds squeaky?

Could we hear our upstairs neighbours? A bit, but that’s pretty standard.

Did the furniture all match and look designer? No, but that just added to the cozy charm of the space.

Reception was kind and helpful, and they gave us all the info we needed. They even offer fluffy beach towels — a rare find in Tofino — and leave little candies in the room and at the front desk (huge win with my kid!).

If I had to make one suggestion, it’d be to add an outdoor tap or shower, plus a spot to hang wetsuits to dry. That would’ve been the cherry on top.

Location is 5 stars. Rooms are clean. 1 point for the hidden $20 pet fee. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice they are pet friendly but when you book online with Air B n B they DO NOT advertise the fee, just that it’s pet friendly. That’s a hidden fee and not right apparently another guest said they do this with children as well. Another point was not being able to get the TV working. We were tired and didn’t feel like staring at our phones to wind down with. I know electronics, and still was not able to access TV. Another point was the fact they say only call for emergencies after hours so no one was there to resolve the tv issue and when I told them the next day he said that is considered an emergency. Another point was the fact there just isn’t enough parking for rooms. The parking lot was completely full as our room was waiting for us so we made one up in hopes we wouldnt get a parking ticket. Luckily we did not but this could have ended bad for us in other ways, someone hitting us. Also try and get a room on the top level so you arent woken up in the middle of the night.
