Long line up. I go stand where it looks like I’m supposed to, on an available marker outside the coffee store. A worker (later revealed as the owner) came out and said I was in the wrong line and I had to line up outside the adjacent art/clothing store, where there were 2 parallel lines of people. These line-ups were for the art store and the coffee store They were completely parallel, meaning there was no significant distance between the coffee store and the art store line, perhaps 2 feet. Okay, I was standing in the incorrect place, as the owner had been inside disregarding his job of overseeing traffics flow, and people had failed to move across into the next line. Fine - I move back to the back of the line, but in the confusion about 2 groups go in front of me. Still, that’s okay, I was irritated but it is confusing times at the moment and I can cope with that Then when I reached the front of the line up in front of the arts/clothing store to cross in to the line in cent of the coffee store I see several other people have now cut in line also, as once again the owner was absentee from his duties of customer flow direction. He was actually also continually going in and out of the store and passing orders to people on the street and using a handheld loudspeaker to do so. I did not observe him wearing gloves or hand washing or using hand sanitizer and he was very clOse to multiple groups of people. It was also clear to me people in front in the line were not standing socially distanced at appropriate spacing, the place was crowded. As was the amount of people waiting on the sidewalk for coffee order pick up, actually they were creating quite the obstruction to pedestrian flow.
My husband then arrived with my children and stood adjacent to the line-up and myself on the side walk. Whereby the owner told him he had to move along and he could not stand on the sidewalk, and argued with my husband when he said he was allowed and it was city property and that he could not actually enforce this. The owner was rude and disrespectful towards my husband. He then insinuated it was because of covid restrictions and that he was implementing them according to bylaws and provincial health guidelines At which point I felt obliged to speak up, as a medical professional, and point out that this was not actually correct. The owner became quite irate and argumentative and decided to decline myself and family service. He was very very rude and disrespectful to me, and quite frankly made me feel humiliated. When in reality it should have been him who was humiliated due to his attitude and behaviour. He should not be allowed to flout the current rules, make up his own rules, or treat people so rudely and with such disrespect. Hopefully this review gives you some information on the true nature of the owner, and it encourages you not to visit this establishment 2020 and covid 19 rules are certainly a trying time, but this experience at this coffee shop was the absolute worst I have had since the pandemic and...
Read morewe came here twice while in tofino because this place was just that good. the first time, we ordered three bronuts: two bacon and one sausage. the toppings were generous and delicious, the bacon was crispy, and the sausage wasn't a patty which was a really nice surprise. the donut was a little bit sweet and balanced out the savoury flavors in the rest of the sandwich really nicely. the coffee was pretty good, i don't have too much to say about that. the second time, we got a bronut, the breakfast wrap and the roast turkey bacon wrap. the breakfast wrap was generous, tasty and very filling; the turkey bacon wrap was savoury and had excellent sauce. we also got donuts to take back home. i'm pretty picky when it comes to donuts, and i've had some gourmet donuts that were just average, so i was pretty skeptical when it came to these ones. after tasting them, i have to say that THE HYPE IS REAL. we got the triple chocolate, boston cream, sour cream, cinnamon sugar, plain, and maple bacon donuts. the triple chocolate one was practically cake in terms of texture. what really stood out to me is that it wasn't too sweet; in fact, none of them were, which made my opinion of them go way up. the chocolate topping was really decadent, ganache-y and delicious. the boston cream also tasted good. again, the cream inside wasn't too sweet and had a particular taste that i loved. the sour cream had a nice texture. with the cinnamon sugar, i didn't really get the cinnamon, but it was tasty and wasn't a sugar overload. the plain donut really was plain, but in the best way possible. it wasn't overly greasy or sweet; it had just a hint of sweetness and the dough was spot-on. the maple bacon had a more fried texture: crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. i'm a big fan of this sort of texture, and of course they pulled it off without the donut being super greasy. the bacon was deliciously crispy, and the maple topping was very sweet but combined with the bacon and dough made for a pretty balanced flavor. i have to give a shout-out to the atmosphere of the place: the tables had a sort of map pattern on them and there was some great art on the walls. you have to go here if you're...
Read moreToo liberal of an owner. He's a bit of a rule police. I was waiting for a breakfast wrap one day and he said "you can take advantage of a seat behind you" and I had no clue he was talking to me because I wasn't looking to sit, I was waiting for my food and was going to leave. He did other things and came back and at this point I realized he must be the owner/manager and he made eye contact and asked if I could take a seat behind me. He said something about customers couldn't get around me which is a lie, I'm not a large person and there was plenty of room to walk around me to use their one of two cream stations. He was proud of having two. And I wasn't blocking either of them. He mentioned something about 6feet and I don't know why. Again, I'm not large and people don't need 6 feet to walk around me. Other people, yes, but no one there needed 6 feet. I'm not dangerous or a threat to the public. It's weird, people were wearing masks in the store but the cop that walked in wasn't. The only thing saving this place from a 1 star review is the delicious breakfast wrap. It was really well done! Great size for the price you pay. Fresh spinach and pieces of potato. The egg was amazing! Nice and flat so it could roll into a burrito nicely. Excellent!! However, two friends ordered the organic dark roast and both felt quite ill shortly after. So be careful with that one. Also, pay attention to the dude with a mask. Better listen to him because people are really scared there. I don't know what they could be...
