I visited Elysian Coffee on Burrard around 12:30 PM on July 21. I needed to use the washroom, so I politely asked a staff member (a woman with her hair tied back and black-rimmed glasses) for the code. She frowned and said, “One second,” in an unfriendly tone. When she finally gave me the code, she spoke in a rude and aggressive way, pointing her finger and telling me to wait somewhere else because someone was inside.

There was no need for that kind of attitude, especially in front of other customers. I waited at my table for 20 minutes, and no one came out. When I knocked and entered, the washroom was completely empty.

I usually love Elysian — the Mount Pleasant location, in particular, has kind and professional staff who make every visit enjoyable. Sadly, this Burrard visit left a very bad impression. Customer service really matters, and this experience was far below the...

I have now visited all 4 locations of this cafe chain, and here's my ranking and thoughts on each:

5th and Burrard: My top favorite. The atmosphere and service are consistently excellent. Next to 5th Avenue Cinema. Chill vibe.

Ash Street and West Broadway: A close second. Always a reliable spot for great coffee and treats and fast service.

Ontario Street and 7th: This location has a vibe that I enjoy.

Across from St. Paul’s Hospital on Burrard Street Downtown: This location rounds out the list.

At this latest stop, I had an ice Americano, which was refreshingly perfect. I also tried their almond raspberry croissant and a chocolate walnut cookie—both were delectable and satisfying.

While each location has its charm, the overall quality and friendly staff make every visit worthwhile. Highly recommend trying them all to find...

Needed a coffee before heading into St Paul's Hospital right across the street - convenient location for this & they are open early. Had a berry/nut/sugar crumble muffin of some sort. Both coffee & muffin were delicious & fresh. Pic was a little late lol Service was great. Friendly. Laid back for the most part - HOWEVER - I had read reviews this cafe had a nice atmosphere, calm music etc... I thought perfect! ...It was 7 am & the music was so loud 🥴... Opposite of calming, very upbeat EDM (normally I like this music, but C'mon that should be played a little later in the afternoon IMHO), was with my mum who also didn't enjoy that. It was still a little too chilly to sit on the patio to escape it.

Could've been a one off on who was selecting the music that morning... just a little feedback to consider...

Otherwise great...

I dropped by here to grab a latte. I tried other two branches on West Broadway and East 7th Ave. The latte at this branch in downtown was as great as the ones at other two branches. I placed an order. It was nice and quick that I got the latte right away. No lineup as I came here around 2pm on Sunday. I asked for to go, so I got a disposable cup. The design on the cup looked great. I felt the design matched well with the “Elysian” theme. This coffee shop has some tables and chairs. Some customers just sat and chatted with friends while they were having coffee. One was working. Actually it was a nice place to sit and relax.
