We were going to go to a usual lunch spot of ours, but I've had my eye on Burgoo for a while. Here we go.... Walking into a rustic and cozy eatery while a friendly smile from a far welcomes us with every step handing us a menu and seating us in the cutest little booth right by the window overlooking charming Burrard street. I fell in love with the menu right away because it has all my favourite comfort foods. Take a look at the menu....you'll see.... We got the Soup & Salad combo (Mushroom Medley and FAB salad). .........The soup was everything a Mushroom Medley should be. Perfect proportions, spectacular seasoning and spot on temperature. (Yes, I've been served luke-warm soup before. It was not pretty.) The FAB salad. It was well....Fab. Every single ingredient was fresh. Every single one, and topped with red onion. Not adding red onion into a salad is like.....not adding basil to your pasta sauce. They got every detail covered. The Sandwich & Salad (Tasty Chicken Sandwich with FAB salad.) ...........The Chicken Sandwich was the best I've ever had. Just try it. You'll see. The FAB salad....well...we already covered that cutie. The service was warm, friendly, attentive and professional. With this place, aside from their kickass food, what really impressed me was their attention and care to detail. To the point where, when I asked for ice water....the glass was spotless, the water filled not too full and not lacking topped with a Fresh Cut Lemon Wedge. Obviously you have the tasty food, Quality service, and Clean Establishment that render a restaurant as great, but in my book, it's the little things that hoist it up to Excellent. And that is exactly what this place was. Excellent.

We came here for brunch/lunch. It was our first time visiting this location. We had visited other two locations in the past. The interior design and ambiance are better here and having more light from big windows at the front. The customer service was great. We ordered a cup of coffee, a feature soup and salad as well as the Burgoo and eggs. The feature soup was Manhattan tomato chowder with bacon and lots of veggies. The flavour was wonderful that it was not as strong and salty as the Burgoo and eggs. The Burgoo and eggs was like a stew with lots of lima peas, lamb, beef, smoked ham, tomatoes, corn, okra, molasses, scrambled eggs, lots of cheese and a warm biscuit. Indeed I felt quite thirty after eating the Burgoo and eggs. It was quite salty. The small biscuit was not big enough to go with Burgoo and eggs. I packed the leftover home to eat with rice. I could eat it with some baguette or bread. Burgoo offers a great variety of sandwiches, salad and soup. It is better than Subway, Quiznos, or the burgers from other fast food restaurants. Burgoo's costs more, but it is worth it and you are paying for the quality.

Good for lots of comfort food and a relaxed vibe. I really liked the mashed potatoes. The beef bourguignon had tasty little caramelized onions, carrots, and mushrooms. It's a big portion! I don't know if I would get it again because the beef was more grisly than I like (though some people like that) and it was too salty for me. That made me a little sad because I hoped this would be a go-to for a favourite dish but it's probably good for my budget that I don't love this meal too much since it isn't one of the cheaper items. I will try other dishes there since there are plenty of options. The Ceasar cocktail hit the spot for me with lots of horseradish and a good mix. The chocolate mousse is super delicious and nice. I wasn't sure if I had room after the size of the meal so I asked them for the to-go version and it wasn't a problem since they do delivery orders too. The staff was relaxed and nice. I liked the big bar area too and the many booth-ey areas for semi-cozy hang outs.

We called a couple days ahead to reserve a table for lunch, as a work related outing with 9 parties. We asked to pre-order as we had a limited time for lunch. We were told no.

We arrived and the server took our drink order in a reasonable amount of time however forgot the honey and lemon requested by 2 of the parties and the waters the others ordered was room temperature vs ice water. It took a long time for the server to return with the honey and lemon and take our order. At this point we had been there over 15 minutes without ordering.

When we were able to order, 1 party expressed food allergy concerns and specifically asked about the chicken wings. The server said the sauce of the day and the party said "No, I can't have that". I will order the ribs. When the ribs arrived, they were sauced with what the party had clearly stated she couldn't eat.

Someone asked for extra napkins and they were told they could have one napkin.

The beef bourguignon was spicy, which was unexpected. When the party asked for mashed potatoes with that, she was told that would be $5 extra.

It was questionable if the shrimp sandwich actually had shrimp included. When you pay $20 for a very small sandwich you expect to be able to see what you are paying for. For comparison, I sometimes have the lobster grill cheese from Salty's which is a considerable size sandwich with a hefty helping of lobster for the same price of $16.

To be clear the shrimp sandwich is $16 however the restaurant forces a 17.5% gratuity. We now expect that is forced as the service was terrible.

We never received a courteous tone however received several scowls and snarky replies. No one came back to check on us after being served.

We had all long finished eating and no one came with the bill. I went to go find the server and politely mentioned we were ready and she replied in an irritated tone that she was already working on that.

The celebration of our colleague was dampened by sub-par customer service, a long wait, underwhelming food and a forced gratuity. Please don't overlook the fact that one party didn't get to eat at all due to the servers lack of doing her job correctly.

The only nice thing that happened was when the party who had the beef bourguignon mentioned she couldn't eat her lunch, as it was too spicy, was compted the mash...

I came here for a date and not only was the food amazing, but our server Christopher greeted us with a warm smile and he had amazing positive energy. I was honestly not having a super good day but being greeted in such a friendly manner made me feel 10x better. I took his recommendation for a drink, it was a mango soda sort of thing and it was DELICIOUS. My date enjoyed his food too, we shared fondue, he got the chicken pot pie and then I also got my usual Mac and cheese which was yummy like always. Christopher made us feel taken care of he and he was great at conversing with us, had an awesome sense of humour and honestly just treated us like friends of his! I eat out at least 3x a month at various restaurants and never have I received such splendid service at any restaurant. Whenever I’ve visited Burgoo in the past the servers were always friendly but Christopher truly created a memorable experience for myself and my date and we will definitely be back again soon! Like usual, the food was great but I really am not used to receiving such a high quality of service. I was really happy we chose to eat here and I hope Christopher can get the recognition he deserves for a job well done. I’ve worked in the hospitality industry myself before and I know how tough it is, PLEASE give Christopher a raise he deserves it! My night was amazing and he helped make that possible :) thank you for being so caring, kind and great at your job Chris, we will remember you and the outstanding service for sure. Highly recommend and if anyone asks for restaurant suggestions in Vancouver, I will make sure to tell ppl about the fantastic food, atmosphere and service at Burgoo! Sadly I forgot to take pics of the food but I assure you it looked and...
