I am writing about Mike Dixon.
He changed my life. I suffered a herniated disc that hit my sciatic nerve. I was part of the back clinic at VGH. I was not a candidate for surgery but my injury was very severe as was my pain so I was sent home with very strong pain meds and referred to the VGH back clinic. I received very little explanation around my injury as they were very focused on the disc healing and would update me around that via x-ray. I explained that I had several other experiences that were happening to my body such as falling on the ground sporadically and they could not explain why it was happening to me. As a result of not needing surgery b/c I could move one toe they often sent the interns to talk to me. I am not sure why they could not explain the falling to me but I often walked out of the hospital with happiness as they told me the disc looked good. However, I still had a lot of pain and no feeling in the leg and toes. After my last appt. they did not give me a recovery plan as I still had a lot of concerning symptoms. They told me to come back if I was experiencing an increase in pain around the disc.
I continued to live with daily pain and after about a year of struggling with the pain and very scared to take a chance with any physiotherapist or massage, etc. I myself, googled possible therapy oppt. and took a chance on Mike Dixon as he was noted to be experienced with disc herniation, sciatica, etc.
On my first appt.I gave him my cat scans. Rt. away he explained what had happened to me via a body chart and told me why my ankle was giving out sporadically and why I had no feeling in various parts of my leg. He took the time to talk to me and acknowledge my pain and explained how a recovery plan would work. I was often very hopeless and he often gave me hope by telling me recovery was slow but possible. My doctor admitted that she never believed that I would ever regain full feeling back in the leg/toes.
To date: I regained most of the feeling back in my leg and toes and no longer fall sporadically on the ground.. Most of my back pain has subsided since the injury date but I am still in recovery and do experience occasional pain around the disc which I have been informed may happen for a long a long time due to the severity of my injury.
I am terrible about writing reviews but have taken the time to write all of this b/c I believe that Mike's expertise, as well, as his personality has been instrumental in my recovery.
I am blessed that I met him and that I am on the journey to...
Read moreI booked a "60 minute massage" (I'll leave the practitioner's name out) for this afternoon. This was my experience:
Massage was supposed to start at 2:15. I arrived just before 2:10. Practitioner brings me into the treatment room at 2:22. Asks me all the relevant questions, etc. By the time I am on the table, it is 2:30. At 3:12, she informs me the treatment time has ended. She steps out of the room. I am up, dressed, and exiting the treatment room at 3:14. So, all in all, I got a 41 minute massage and I paid $147.
I will not be back. The massage itself wasn't bad (though it wasn't exactly deep tissue as I requested), but I can't get past them not honoring their own treatment times and still charging $$$. If im paying for a 60 minute treatment, I expect a 60 minute treatment. Is that so much to ask?
Edit: after reading my review, the company reached out to me this morning and offered me a full refund for the service. I am pleasantly surprised, as this was unexpected! I appreciate their customer service; it really seems like they take their feedback seriously and are willing to take steps to ensure customer satisfaction. Perhaps I will give them another shot, though I would book with a different practitioner. Thank you,...
Read moreMartina Griffiths, RMT Massage Therapist and Selenia Lacchelli, Physical Therapist are rare life changing people I feel grateful to have met. They are intelligent and very talented. I feel so thankful to have received benefit from their knowledge and skill. Martina used multiple disciplines of massage therapy to take away pain and help give me back my mobility and ability to move effortlessly and sleep better without waking up in the morning from tension and hurt. She is insightful. I wish I’d known about her sooner. The ability and wisdom she has is so more advanced than what we have in the States. Selenia Lacchelli, Physical Therapist is a rock star of physical therapy. Her treatment and techniques were new to me. The exercises she suggested were exactly what I was looking for. These two have talent and if you are in pain or recovery from an injury you literally are delaying progress if you don’t meet these two professionals. There’s good, there’s great, and there’s exceptional. They are exceptional. The Everest facility is very clean, quiet, private and the receptionists are friendly and efficient in scheduling appointments. I hope to return. It was an incredible experience...
