As a delivery driver, not very many places make the driver wait outside for the order. But that's fine. I don't mind that. But every one of those places has a doorbell or some way to contact the restaurant to let them know you're there. Not this place. You literally have to stand there until an employee walks by and notices you. You can bang on the glass and believe me, I did. For about 5 minutes straight until someone finally walked past. What a profoundly dumb system. Get a doorbell that alerts the kitchen or SOMEONE. Anyone. If not to be respectful of the driver's time, at the very least get one so the customer's food doesn't get cold. Did you think we were paid by the hour?
Anyway you're crazy if you think I'm going to abide by that lunacy. I'm just going to walk inside next time until I see a door bell.
Oh and I like the sauce they put on their burgers.
In response to the reply (which explained they are aiming for a good experience for their guests and that they will pass my suggestion on to the appropriate people):
I get that. But if there's no way to alert the employees we are there, I would assume most drivers are going to knock on the glass to get someone's attention, which surely would annoy diners more than any of the systems other restaurants use. The margin for profit for drivers, after gas is very slim. Waiting even 5 minutes can push an order from being worth your time, into the not worth it category. It's very disrespectful to not consider this at all. It's the drivers that allow for you to utilize services like Uber eats, which helps your business remain competitive. Also the doorbell doesn't have to ring out into the dining area, it can just trigger a light or a sound in the kitchen. I'm just not seeing how this system facilitates a better guest experience.
Also you're the only restaurant that does this again, and come on, it's White Spot, not some fancy restaurant. There are much more high-class restaurants with much smaller dining areas that don't seem to mind the delivery drivers coming inside to pick up the orders. Do customers even mind this? I'm not so sure they do. Other white spots don't do this either just this location. The one in White Rock for example you just have to tell the hostess and you wait where people normally wait for seats. But thank you for considering my critiques. I...
Read moreThis is about my awful experience with a person who served me as a Uber driver on May 23, 2024, around 7 pm.
I arrived to pick up an order and was told to wait a few minutes. After about 5 minutes, a young girl brought the order to me. As usual, I began the process of confirming the pickup on my phone, which involves three steps.
Immediately after receiving the bag, I completed the first step and was about to move to the second as I was stepping out of the restaurant when the girl abruptly asked me to confirm it. I said okay and did the second step. She continued to watch my phone screen in a strange way, acting like she wanted to grab my phone and do it herself, and asked again if I could confirm it. This behavior was odd, but I showed her that I had completed all three steps and asked if everything was okay. That’s when she aggressively said "yeees" and gave me a harsh stare. When I asked what the problem was, she rudely replied, "because you can 'STEAL' it." I felt really hurt and offended. I was just doing my job, and this wasn’t my first time at this restaurant.
I asked to speak with the manager, but the girl tried to deflect the conversation. When I approached other staff members, they refused to help, saying she was new and unfamiliar with the work. They wouldn’t even tell me her name and questioned why they should.
I couldn’t believe the poor customer service. We as Uber drivers are helping restaurants' business, and staff should not differentiate us. I didn’t expect an apology, but I wanted to share my experience with the manager to let them know how their staff treated delivery persons.
I reported the incident to Uber support team and shared my feedback because they might have received other feedback and need to consider it. As someone who lives downtown, I won’t be returning to this restaurant as a customer and I wouldn’t recommend it to my...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences of my life. I don’t know where to start. First, I suspect that perhaps the ‘goals’ of this particular restaurant are different than other White Spot locations, feel like something you would be served in economy class on a plane. The food looks nothing like the menu, and I mean absolutely nothing. My kids did like his pirate pack, so I’ll try to be positive about that. We ordered the perogies, the lettuce wraps and the ribs. Everything tasted microwaved, nothing was fresh. The lettuce in the lettuce wrap was floppy like how it is if you leave a head of lettuce on the counter over night, the chicken was a joke. No crispy chicken, no pickled carrots, no green onion, no sesame, no plumb sauce. I suspect in order to reduce food costs this location is going off script. White Spot head office should sit them down. Reheated trash food. My son loves ribs, we travel the city going from location to location, to eat the ribs. He’s five. He told me they were the worst ribs he has ever had. When I found out WS had ribs I got him all pumped about it. Those ribs never saw a grill, and if they did it was yesterday. Honestly, disgusting. Easily the worst ribs in the city, I will have to work hard to find worst ribs. Forgot the coleslaw (like was supposed to be like in the picture) with the ribs also. Perogies, no sautéed onions, no green onions, the cheese sauce was a joke, the bacon fried to a burnt crumble, nothing like the picture. Stay away from this location, I’m not sure what, but something systemically wrong at this location. Scared to try another WS at the moment. I tried to politely let them know the ribs “weren’t very good” since we didn’t want them packed and they were only half eaten. I added a photo of what the ribs are supposed to look like, grilled… imagine a different version, microwaved then cold sauce...
