Hostal Raioha is a fantastic option for a stay on Easter Island. We booked six nights with our family of four (two teenage daughters) and it was absolutely perfect. It isn't fancy, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location couldn't be better. I walked five minutes into the town every morning to buy fresh bread for breakfast, we watched the sun go down most nights at beautiful Ahu Tahai (about 15-20 minute walk) and we swam at Playa Pea every evening to cool off (with most swims being accompanied by the local turtles) - another 5 minute walk! Absolutely ideal. The cabana itself was very clean, with clean towels provided and a basic kitchenette and fridge that kept our fruit and drinks cold. Our stay was only improved by our incredible hosts, Rosa and Enrique, who couldn't do enough to make us comfortable! Fresh bananas, treats, big smiles and as much info they could share with us non-fluent Spanish speakers. Their kindness was remarkable! With pricey accommodation all over the island, I can't think of a more homey, happy and perfectly located place to spend your days in this...
Read moreThe Hostel Uruhao’s perfect location minutes by foot from the ocean, shops ocean front restaurants, and a short walk to Moai Tahai make this spot near perfect. Francisco met me at the airport and he and his wife Sonia served fantastic breakfasts each morning ( coffee, fresh breads, all manner of fresh fruits, charcuterie, and home made pastries). Francisco’s English is quite good and he is a font of information. The property is colocated with Hotel Otai( I never could figure out relationship) and consequently you get Otai’s beautiful Gardens, pool and other spaces at hostel prices. The room is basic with sparse furnishings and cinderblock walls but is is immaculately cleaned each day. Wifi was great in dining area but erratic in the room itself. But if you come to Rapa Nui to watch TV or stream video, you don't deserve to be here. The AC worked great. Not all hostels have it. Shower could have been hotter. The typical American who comes to Rapa Nui probably opts to spend 4 times as much at one of the hotels. Big Mistake…. This place...
Read morePerfect location. A 5 minute walk to the boat harbour, restaurants and dive shops. 5 minutes in the opposite direction is the 'main drag'. Shops, restaurants, beer stores, car and motorbike rental companies and the visitor office. Rosie and family are amazing. Friendly, helpful and kind. My Spanish is bad at the best of times but Rosie and I managed to converse enough to get the message across. Wonderfully comfortable room nice and quiet Nice, clean and tidy. Plenty of hot water for the shower. If you feel the need to cook there is a well equipped kitchen with big fridge and nice cooker. Lovely seating area outside our room excellent for sun-downers. We would stay again in a...
