I stayed at this hostel for one week (today is my last day) and am a little disappointed by it mot being a fun and cozy place to hang out with other guests. While the location is great, within walking distance to many points of interest, the overall experience left to be desired as I expected it to be a place with more activities for the travelers.
Pros: Location: Convenient and close to many attractions. Reception Staff: Friendly and helpful. (Ismael, Luz, Laura, Eos.. you guys are super nice and helpful) Room Cleanliness: Beds are comfortable and rooms are cleaned daily. -Kitchen: Equipped with essentials to cook.
Cons: Cleanliness: Comforters are not cleaned after every use; mine didn’t smell clean. The seating in the hangout areas is dirty and visibly old. Everything in the hangout are has stains and even though I wanted to lay down somewhere there to hangout, I couldn’t because it felt gross. Atmosphere: The hostel is not the fun, activity-filled place it was advertised to be. During my stay, the only organized event was a dinner on the first night, with no other activities offered. Very sad because it seems like people would like to gather for some bonding time with the community. -Kitchen: Not very secure. Me and other guests had our food stolen. ————————————————————————- ** A little note for the management: there’s a lot of work ahead but wishing you best of luck! Thanks for taking the constructive criticism in a nice way!
Overall, this hostel is an ok place if you need a place to stay with a good location but it needs some TLC with furniture and environment to create a comfortable and enjoyable...
Read moreTHE GOOD: I stayed in their Deluxe Single Private Ensuite room. It’s quite nice for a hostel. The room had two double beds and a decent sized bathroom. It was clean.
The location seems to be pretty nice as well. Convenience stores nearby, and a grocery store at a 15 mins walk.
Sebestian is amazing. He’s honestly the only reason to have it a 5 star, instead of 3/4. Because whenever there was an issue, he was above and beyond to help out, and find a solution.
The BAD: The bad is very fixable, and minor.
There was no toilet paper. And I never did get any on the first day. Was told it was an issue, but zero solutions provided. There were multiple convenience stores nearby, but they did not provide any toilet paper. I guess they are expecting us to buy it?
I asked to extend my stay. They charged me way more than I was getting through hostel world. I was trying to do them a solid by saving them hostel world commission. But he did not want to price match, which was odd, but fine. And I ended up booking it for much cheaper through Hostel World. So just FYI, if you want to extend your stay, just double check to ensure the price is consistent.
Also, for payment they use another platform which requires them to ask for a selfie / scan your credit card. When I stayed here in February this year, I wasn’t able to pay with a credit card. Not sure if...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights at Guanako in a private room. The staff are lovely, the location is great and the beds are comfortable. The staff also let us check out one hour later and let us put luggage in storage.
However, I would never stay here again. There was an incredibly disgusting smell coming from the bathroom sink (like absolute rotten eggs) which stunk out our whole room. The room also felt very dirty - there were people’s hairballs on the floor when we arrived and the comforters on the bed did not smell clean. The blinds were broken and holes ripped out of the mattress. The sheets we were given when we first arrived also did not fit on the bed and the mattress became uncovered often. Towels given to us were dirty and stained. Rooms were also very loud from within the hostel - the maid woke us up every morning hitting our door with the mop. We were originally drawn to the photos as it looked sociable but we only saw people one night out of the four nights. The social area also feels quite unclean, with dirty chairs and sofas with holes. We were really disappointed, especially as we were paying more money for a hostel rather than a cheaper and much nicer AirBNB in the area. We really expected more paying more money for a...
