We had high expectations, both because of all the great reviews and because the restaurant came recommended by a local, but we were rather disappointed. Nothing bad, but in our opinion definitely nothing great, either. I ordered the fish and it was a very small portion, just fried and with no sauce or condiment, so not bad, but not very tasty, either. Prices aren't at the high end of the spectrum, but I would not say this is an inexpensive place, either. The ambience is also overcrowded (due to its popularity: we even had to wait in line before being assigned a table). I would have given the restaurant three stars, but I have to add an extra one for the outstanding service: friendly, quick, attentive and always with a smile even when running around and serving a huge number of tables at one time.

Where : Galindo restaurant – Santiago - Chile Title: Great Chilean taste ! Galindo’s restaurant was recommended by our guide from the Free walking tour to have a taste of the Chilean traditional food without spend a fortune. The place is located in Providencia neighbourhood that is really nice place to stay around. It’s a real traditional Chilean restaurant, it’s not fancy but cozy and the service is great and fast. We had tried “Pastel de Choclo”, that is a corn pie made of mashed corn, grounded beef, onions, egg, chicken, black olives and raisins. Different good. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: Yes we totally recommend.

Really had high expectations from this location as locals and tour guides were giving high reviews but I think it really was a little disappointed. Came during a popular dinner time and it was packed. Restaurant itself had quite a bit of seating and our party of 2 didn't have to wait long although they stuck us in a corner table that was extremely packed for space. Decor is non-existent, service was quick and friendly however. Looking at the food, the free bread rolls were quite disappointing, cold and hard. Ordered the sea bass which should be an outstanding piece of fish but was met with a grilled/deep fried fish which had the taste of old oil. The soup was pretty good and I would highly recommend that. Mashed potatoes were not that great, quite gritty and not creamy or rich.

I definitely recommend this restaurant. All the dishes, among others, we tried were recommended by our tour guide. This is a place where you can definitely try Chilean food. We had the empanadas de Pino, the chicken soup and one sandwich. It was a lot of food but we were able to try from everything. The empanada was really tasty, as well as the soup. I have to say the sandwich need a bit more salt and maybe a bit more spicy chili. The waitress was really nice and friendly. When we asked to pay in usd, she recommended not to do it as it would not be in our advantage.

Seems like a tourist spot on first look - but it was recommended to us by a tour guide for having traditional Chilean dishes. Service was friendly. In a popular, trendy area so it’s nice to sit on the patio. We had the Pastel de choclo (at recommendation) and a white fish ceviche. The ceviche was fresh, large portion and comes with bread. Also had margaritas but would avoid these as they are not traditional margs and quite sweet. I would return here for more fish dishes!

This place was recommended by the bar tender at my hostel and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was relaxed, and I didn't feel uncomfortable as a tourist. Staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The good is traditional Chilean and delicious. I had the pastel de choclo, which is similar to shepherd's pie. A layer of beef and onions, a layer of chicken, covered in slightly sweet corn mash. Filling, but fabulous after a long day of travel.
