I stayed in Casa Aborigen for several nights. The hostal is situated in a quiet and safe neighbourhood of barrio Italia. It is only a few minutes walk to the metro station and a short 15 mins walk to the barrio Bellavista.||||The hostal has a well equipped and clean kitchen. The room I stayed in was spacious and has a good comfy beds. Big plus is an AC in the room which can be turned on, we asked the reception, and warm up the rooms at this time of a year! Lockers are spatious enough to contain a big backpack. You will need to bring your own padlock or buy one in the reception. ||||Towels are provided, you only need to pay a deposit of 3000 pesos, which you will get back when checking-out.||||Breakfast was a buffé style, containing of tea/coffee/juice/milk, bread, ham, butter, different kinds of jam, dulce de leche and cornflakes. Different types of fruit were also provided, which I appreciated a lot! ||||Few small things can be improved. Bathrooms could be checked more often as they get quite messy throughout the day and empty for toilet paper. ||Entrance door to the rooms could be held closed, as the hallway, rooms and bathrooms get very cold if the door stay open. ||||All of the staff, but especially Angel and Natalia, were really nice and doing their best! They were service-minded, always ready to help or give advise. That is what makes your stay really nice!I had a nice stay in Casa Aborigen!...
Read moreWe stayed here in the middle of March and couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay whilst in Santiago. We had a private room with en-suite and found it very comfortable. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was plentiful, and all areas were kept very clean. The room: clean and comfortable, free Netflix in the room, good WiFi in the room, the shower was hot and water pressure was excellent. The hostel is well located, just a few minutes walk to the nearest metro. Uber is everywhere and is cheap to get around. We met some great people here. The hostel has a lockable luggage storage room, and will store your luggage if necessary. We went to Valparaiso for a few days and the hostel looked after our big suitcases - it was very convenient! Special mention goes to Michelle who was really lovely, spoke excellent English and was extremely helpful in recommending restaurants and nearby attractions. She even made us “terremotos” one evening! Michelle really made our stay at this hostel more enjoyable! I can only recommend this place and would stay here again...
Read moreCustomer service is something you cant guarantee, even if you’re paying for big brand chain hotels.||||For what you pay, the private room is massive, breakfast is sufficient and the hotstal is super clean throughout. The reception staff don’t all speak English, but do their best to be helpful - Christian and Michelle were amazing!!||||Casa Aborigen is a few minutes from Barrio Italia - a great neighbourhood for winding down to brunch or chilling out after a long day. It’s close to the park, metro area and walking distance of San Cristóbal outlook if you’re strolling through the barrios. They also arrange tours and most companies will pick up from this location.||||The demonstrations didn’t affect my stay, but the hostel is pretty close the the activity so if you’re on foot - you may need to plan a few detours.||There is certainly high security at the hostel - it is fenced, meaning you are buzzed in and out. Unfortunately, there were times of having to wait 5 or so minutes, which was frustrating, but not...
