Overall would not stay here again. Decent hotel but definitely not 4 star as listed. Pros Oxxo convenience store next door and another small shop across street for snacks and drinks Good coffee shops surrounding area and easy access for Uber pick ups and dropoffs Daily housekeeping Good shower water pressure Tour services available through ChileTour which we utilized for Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar tour. Reasonable rate of around $38 USD per person with pick up and drop off at hotel. This company appeared to be in other hotels as well based on people that joined our tour.
Cons Early check in was offered but there was a fee, which is understandable. However, we ended up paying about 90% of our nightly rate we paid through Expedia which we thought was unreasonable and were asked to pay in USD (local currency was not offered but we failed to ask too, could be cheaper so recommend asking). We checked in about 4 hours before regular check in which in other places we have even done it for free or much earlier than that. This is listed as a 4 star hotel but felt more like a decent 2-3 star hotel. Although clean, towels were rough and old. Basic amenities were not offered in bathroom nor bottled water. This is also listed as a VIP hotel in Expedia but no VIP benefits were offered or provided. Not all personnel at hotel were welcoming...
Read moreI hate to write bad reviews but this is by far not the best experience I've had with this hotel. The staff is very cordial and accommodating, however, more needs to be done on housekeeping and maintenance.
Here's the rundown. Let's start with the day of check-in. My sheets were dirty and had stuff on it. I don't know how the housekeeper missed this or perhaps did not care. The bed perfectly made as though new fresh sheets were placed, however, beneath the cover did not sit well with me. Please see photos.
Hotel staff switched me to another room. Ok, the next room. Although the sheets were fine, there was hair all over the floor. Nicolas, one of the guest host at the front desk, had to sweep up the hair and said lack of cleaning was very unacceptable.
Ok, on to the following day. I returned to my room after being out most of the day and my room smelled like rotten eggs. 🙄 It was so unbearable, I couldn't stay in the room. Maintenance guy comes up and has a citrus spray bottle to cover the smell. Wow! Instead of bringing a plunger or other tools, he comes with a citrus spray bottle. Thankfully, I don't smell the rotten eggs after turning the A/C on.
Please note that you're given one key card and the electricity stays on with a key card in the slot. I had to ask for a second one while I left the room and for the air to...
Read moreThe hotel cheated me out of 80 USD. Upon check-in, I was forced to pay for my stay in Chilean pesos, as a result, I was charged more than 80 USD due to the tax for residents of Chile, which I did not have to pay. At the same time, I was not informed about the possibility of paying in cash in US dollars, being confronted with the fact that I can pay either with a credit card in US dollars (I do not have a credit card and I was not warned about the need to have one when booking), or with a debit card in Chilean pesos. When I found out that they charged me 80 USD more because of the tax that I shouldn't have paid, I offered to cancel the transaction and pay in cash in USD, but they refused me harshly, citing the impossibility of canceling the operation. At the same time, within the fact that it was the hotel’s mistake, the staff did not apologize, did not offer any compensation, an upgrade of the room, or at least a free dinner, simply putting me with the fact that because of hotel’s mistake, the hotel charged me more than was agreed 80 USD. In addition, our vacation was ruined by the need to sort things out with hotel’s staff, which caused me and my family moral suffering and the loss of several hours of our already short...
