Short walking distance to lots of places to eat and metro access to city centre. Also to note is this is in a good part of the city. High society. ||Lobby reasonably inviting and ok. |Staff very pleasant helpful and polite. |Rooms seem disappointing but I’m used to 5 star so maybe I’m not a good person to be reviewing this.|I’ll explain in detail for the sake of others reading this.||First nights sleep and I slept 11 hours and no back ache so great bed and that’s not easy to find. Bravo.||Great shower but door didn’t close.|The gym is super small but not the worst I’ve seen and like I’ve said in previous posts most people probably don’t come on holiday for a gym workout. Just putting it out there. ||The restaurant on the top floor seems basic but never ate there but I don’t think this place is trying to win any good food awards so it’s better than nothing. |The tables and chairs look like children’s furniture so if you’re packing on the pounds on you might not be so impressed either. ||Breakfast on ground floor surprising good and I’ve stayed in 6 star to give a comparison. Reasonable array of fruit (3 types) nuts, cereal and yoghurt. 👌🏻. Coffee teas and juice. Plenty of breads and pasties, cold meat and cheese as well as hot food like bacon sausage eggs and vegetables. Good for 4 star I think. ||Pros :-|Well located, I recall when booking it seemed well priced but you really get what you pay for. Pool seemed ok but never used it. Was bigger than some I’ve seen and good sundeck. |Nice touch with quality table lamps in rooms, nice tap-ware and bathroom fixtures.|Bed nice and firm so that’s a big bonus and nice linen. |The place is in a peaceful location so no bars or traffic waking you up. Good bar if you like a drink some places don’t even have a bar. Full access to water machine on tap and coffee machine. Nice touch. Takeaway coffee cups, I love this touch. Area to use supplied computers and books to read. Lobby clean and inviting. ||Cons :-|Musty smell in room but did seem to go. |Flooring : well worn carpet tiles you get in an office. |Desk and wardrobe basic and drab but they do the job I suppose, desk good for working if you need to use your laptop. Looks cheap. Rooms look dreary and worn out but not everywhere. |Looks cheap and industrial in places ||Final comments. ||On my departure I can say I enjoyed my stay. Would i return probably not. I think it suits some peoples needs so I’m saying its average, not rubbish but not amazing either. |Rooms need bigger coffee cups or at least a second option rather than just espresso. |If flooring was upgraded and the desks and robes were uplifting with new colours as they look terrible in correct colour scheme it will make all the difference. Different colour net curtain to give the rooms some life and ambience just like the table lamp does. |Having said that it has some good features also so my parting words are the place grew on me and it just needs some finer touches to make so much difference. |Definitely not a disaster in the end. Very...
Read moreWe chose this hotel for our 4 days in Santiago. The area, Providencia, is considered quite safe in Santiago, and we liked the door attendant, the carded elevator, and the very helpful staff who candidly discussed safety in the city. The breakfast was very good with lots of fruit, vegetables and eggs made to order and served carafe coffee as well as espresso drinks. The breakfast staff served lactose free milk and arranged a very tasty gluten free bread when asked (except unfortunately for our last breakfast.) The rooms were very clean which was refreshing as so many hotel rooms are not as clean as they once were (most notably in the USA). The bed was comfortable and the towels were nice and the shower was hot with strong water pressure - even on the 11th floor. Even the towels offered by the pool were new and fluffy. Each day, the cleaning staff refilled the free soda, water and coffee. All of the hotel staff were very helpful and kind and a number of people at the front desk spoke English which was refreshing as our Spanish was not as good as it should have been for a country where few people speak English. Truly, we would highly recommend Solace and when pushed for a suggestion for improvement by the staff, the only thing that we could mention was we didn't like that the soap/shampoo bottles were quite difficult to extract the bath products.
As an added bonus, the hotel was close to a sculpture park and we enjoyed free movies at 9:30 pm with many local Chilean people and families. One final comment, that is important to note, is that part of the street near the hotel is under construction and sometimes the Uber drivers couldn't find the hotel and parked a street over. The Solace staff were happy to take our phones and send special messages to the Uber drivers and/or we met the drivers close to the hotel instead of...
Read moreGreat stay with some small flaws. Lets start with the flaws first: The up-beat music at the pool was sometimes a bit too loud. The gym room was very poorly equipped. I suggest to have a rack with free weights and a bank. The food prices of the restaurant were HIGH with small portions, probably because they described themselves as luxury hotel, which I reluctantly would attest to. From the very good breakfast, I did not like the small bread rolls and croissants, they were hard and lacked taste. Please get this from a bakery fresh or chose a better supplier. I would also love to see some non-alc cocktails on the menu and put some thought into this.
Here is the good stuff: The rooms are, spacious, very clean with very comfy beds and a work space. They did not charge extra for the mini bar (water, sprite, coffee). The WIFI internet was very strong and perfect for work. The hotel is stylish had very professional and attentive personnel that speaks English very well. The breakfast was outstanding with a lot of variety and high quality fruits (i.e. blackberrys, cherries, strawberries) however, the baked goods need improvement. It would be even better if they offered a waffle machine where everyone can put dough inside and after 3 mins has fresh waffles. Even throughout the day they offer some fruits and coffee from an automat. All in all, a very good Hotel with some room for...
