I had emailed and called several times before my arrival there recently. The owner had assured me that she will accomodate my late arrival (3 AM) and had agreed to charge me only 80 USD for a 30 hour stay. ||||when I got there, at 3 AM, it took more than 30 minutes to wake anyone up. then, I was told that I will have to pay full day price for the remaining 3 hours of that night (65 USD) and another day's price for the next 24 hours. The rooms have very thin walls, and it noisy. You can hear the neighbors farting. Upstairs people walking wakes you up. Breakfast is dry bread and margarine and instant coffee.||||It is shameless that the owner promises one thing over the phone, and upon arrival changes her tune. This is a very dubious practice. Read moreWe stayed at Hostal Maipu Street for 2 nights. When we arrived at 12pm there was nobody to open the door, so we had a walk into town first... They said 24-Hour Reception on their website... ||The owner was very friendly but didn't speak much English. Our room had three beds, it was on the top floor. There was even a safe, and we were able to park our car in the courtyard.||The house is very well kept, however, at 70 USD we didn't find it cheap.||The accommodation is not very close to the center of Punta Arenas, however, it's not much more than a 15 mins. walk to the main square. Read moreWe were told a price on arrival which we took to be for the room, this was a bit more than anywhere else we had stayed but we agreed. We were told to pay later. On paying the price doubled (per person not per room). Some of the confusion was possibly due to my poor Spanish, but she made a point of speaking very quickly and at great length. Anywhere else my Spanish had been more than adiquite.
