Hostal Atacama Tatais — Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama

First of all: bed bugs.|Ok, so here is the rest of the review:|As per many of the other reviews, if you are a light sleeper, this probably isn't the hostel for you. But then again, I am a light sleeper but every night I was so tired from all the activities during the day that the noise coming from the common area didn't bother me (it was actually interesting to hear some funny stories as I laid in bed and waited for sleep to take over me).|The friendly atmosphere is definitely this hostel's main characteristic.|I was able to book all the tours I wanted from the hostel and even though they are not the cheapest, it was at a fair price.|The staff went above and beyond to help me out when necessary. |A few problems:|The bed wasn't very comfortable but at the same time, I slept just fine.|They said that there were some times of the day when there might not be hot water, but I showered in the morning, night and afternoon (on different days) and there was never hot water. |Wi-fi didn't work all the time and specially not in the room.|Aaaaaand the big one: bed bugs. I ignored the reviews regarding this and only realized this after I had left the hostel (I thought they were mosquito bites, then spider bites but only when I got home did I find out they were bed bug bites!). It kinda sucked that I was itchy all over (face, chest, legs, ankle, feet, hands) for the remainder...

I came to this hostal because I wanted to join a friend who was already there. Bad luck.||||I stayed 2 nights at this hostal until I change for another one.||Rooms are overbooked (~ 10 beds in a dormitory), twin beds are noisy and unstable, there is no ladder to climb.||In the kitchen, there is 1 small fridge for all the people in the hostal : not to say that there is NO space in it. ||People still your food, so don't be surprised if you miss something.||All the rooms are around a patio (the only nice bit of the hostal), and it is OK.... until the OWNER + his receptionists party there ALL NIGHT LONG, playing music and chatting noisily.||Seriously, it's too expensive for what it is (12,000 CLP per night). You can easily find another hostal CHEAPER, and MORE CALM where people will welcome you with a more respectful manner.||||I HIGHLY DISRECOMMEND...

All staff is very very rude and disrespectful towards their customers. We slept in a dorm and one guy came late at night with a girl and forced her to have sex with him, she was screaming and trying to escape. After we reported that to the owner, his anwer was: She should have called the police, its not our problem!||The mattresses have bedbugs and really dirty. The staff including the owner parties all night and is very loud, they do not really respect and care about their guests. The water is 3 min warm 5min cold, in the fridge they steal your food. Do not go to this place, pay a little bit more and find a more enjoyable place where you get the minimum respect...
