Hostal Possada atacameña — Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama

Sorry this is long, but that's the reason for reviews.|The hostel we were looking for was wrongly located on Google maps, as we were waiting outside this hostel, the young man who work's there approached us.|After looking at the hostel, and the kitchen and although not perfect would do for us. ( after three day salar de uyuni tour).|The price was way too high for this type of accommodation. It's low budget.|After some negotiations we agreed on a price. Still too high for this type of accommodation but we were exhausted, hot and in need of a shower.|The young man was absolutely great, he'd confirmed the price with the owner.... everybody happy!!!!!|No towels come with the room, no soap, tiny bit of toilet paper left from previous guest with yucky marks on it. We had our own thankfully... nothing comes with this room, NADA. $90! Original price, we paid $60 ....... $60!?! Water turned off during the night..... WHY?|We enjoyed the outside area that evening. It's pleasantly done (no smoking though)|The kitchen wasn't brilliant but able to make a meal with the limited equipment, as people had left food in some pan's. The fridge wasn't that clean and there was no area to store your own food. |Although the beds were very comfortable the sheets wouldn't stay in place and we ended up sleeping on the mattress, really not nice to wake to so many stains next to your face. Absolutely no where to put your items, just the beds. With little room to move.|In the morning we were rudely awoken by the owner, who it seems had changed his mind about the agreed price. Demanded the full amount, we tried to negotiate with him but he acted like a child. He was very intimidating, accusing us of all manner of things. He shut the water off to the room, we only had one hour to get ourselves ready.... |Really not a nice man.|The other staff were super and friendly. Given our time limit, and the fact we had brought lots of fresh food as we expected to stay for three nights, we hurried our breakfast. Leaving a few items unwashed. As he'd insisted we must be out by 11, after our treatment by the owner, and him trying to blackmail us with police, withholding our money, trying to overcharge us a few plates felt ok to leave.... I had washed up most of the pans previously....| "right or wrong," "I was very aggrieved of our treatment the owner had showed us"|The owner insisted I wash up the items, which I did..... hoping he wouldn't try to charge me a extra night as we were already late. |The young man who had arranged our stay the day before arrived, he got all the money back for us, apologizing... not that this was his fault he had contacted the owner with the discounted price, which the owner had agreed to.| Which as I said before is way over priced for this accommodation, even what we paid was too much. plenty of other places, which are cheaper or match this and are far better standards. |Just don't encourage such behaviour, as I say staff were brilliant..... the place is ok, but certainly not $90 worth or even $20, It's a hostel not five star hotel.|It's way over priced, and after finding the accommodation we were looking for originally, I'm kind of glad that happened as it was way nicer, good kitchen, excellent beds..... towels and soap, with two full roll's of toilet paper :) and much cheaper. This hostel was the only place that had space left when we came here during a festival. All happy to have a place to sleep we went here, but it was a very bad decision. The place is good and very peaceful but the owner knew how to mess that up. When we were baking a garlic bread for example, he would open the oven just to tell us the bread was finished and he needed to cook. He would walk away mad after we told him we just put it in there.||||The worst thing happened after a night out. 2 of my friends arrived earlier and couldn't get in because the door was double locked and no one was there. One of them climbed over the fence to wake up the owner who double locked the door after they were inside again. Meaning, if there is a fire, no one would be able to get in or out!! ||The owner got very mad when I wanted to get in and wanted to sent us away right there in the middle of the night. He called the police in front of my eyes after he walked up to us with a baseballbat and then he locked me out. I waited outside for the police to arrive but they never showed up. All of a sudden the door opened, thd owner came out and I had a very long talk with him. Finally I made it to my bed. After all this happening, the next morning he told his colleague to tell us everything was fine and we could stay! As one of my friends was really upset about him walking up to us, threatening us with a baseballbat, we did not think it was a good idea and luckily we found another hostel right around the corner. We got our money back and walked away from the place.||||The next few days when we would walk by to get to our fine hostel, the owner would watch us walking down the street every single time. ||||I cannot say anything else than very much not recommending this place, also because there are different reviews telling same stories about the owner. ||Do it for...
