I had a hard time deciding where to stay in San Pedro because places that had good reviews and looked nice on photos were just too pricey. |So it was with mixed feelings that I booked this places as reviews on Tripadvisor seemed to go in both direction. |I would not have needed to worry though: Luis and Ruby were very nice and helpful. The room was nice and clean and always cool despite the heat outside. |Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with the small but nice fare offered as a buffet. On those mornings when we had to leave prior to breakfast being served from 7am, it was no problem for them to organise it a little earlier for us. |There weren't many people staying and because there is no constantly staffed reception the place seemed a little deserted. But that also made for a quiet nights sleep. |Yes, it's a bit out of town and the walk to and from in the heat and that altitude can be a bit much, but I would probably still stay there again. |My only complaint is that the maid went to service our room, despite us telling her on several occasions we did not want her to do so. In consequence a couple of things went missing. Not that they were valuable, but they were handy and I guess she regarded...
Read moreThe room was very comfortable and the breakfast great! The location is a short walk out of town, and we loved getting away from the busy center. The only reason I'm not giving this place top marks is that the hotel is missing basic things which you'd expect at this price. For instance, the owner had promised us to print our bus tickets, but apparently there was no functional printer at reception, so when we came back at 10 pm, there was no ticket. They tried to solve this, but in the end we had to run around town late at night, begging to use a printer at other hotels so that we could board the bus the next morning. Also, the maid dried our towels every day in the sun, and then folded them and laid them on the bed so that it was impossible to tell which was which. As a couple, we don't mind sharing towels, but if traveling with friends, it might not have been so charming! especially not as there was no change of towels for the 4 nights we stayed. Small stuff, but this lack of professionalism really detracts from the...
Read moreAlthough the room was clean, it got really cold unless you have the manual heater on. The room did not have a TV/radio, tea/coffee maker, refrigerator nor toiletries. It had towels and the beds were made daily. The breakfast was included & satisfactory with a special perk of American coffee in it (....and NOT that NESCAFE INSTANT COFFEE, whatever, that is usually served!).||I think that when you are on foot, 15 to 20 minute walk to the center, considering that on average it is 5 degree Celsius at night time, it is too long of a walk. The hotel owner assured us that San Pedro is safe, however, it is a bit uncomfortable to walk in the dark, dirt roads with no sidewalks.....My mom was tired one evening and she did not want to go out for dinner and I had to walk to the center by myself. I would not...
