This old girl is in need of a touch-up and a bit of maintenance to be honest. The main lobby is beautiful but only one working elevator for 17 floors is not acceptable. Our room, too, had issues with a running toilet. Maintenance came and "fixed it" but it had the same problem shortly afterward despite my best efforts. The whole mechanism frankly needed replaced. There was also chipped plaster and paint in the bathroom. The shower was excellent with lots of hot water and good pressure. Cannot say the same about the supplied shampoo and body wash which seemed like they were watered down as they had no lather. I have had the same issue in other Accor properties however. The final insult was the to-go breakfast on the last morning, for which i paid full price as they would not refund me when we discovered that we had to leave prior to the weekend breakfast hours. A slice of pound cake and a lukewarm cup of coffee with no milk or creamer available - frankly pathetic. The regular breakfast however was the usual Accor fare, so pretty good.
Staff, however, were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The gentleman who checked us in was particularly helpful and gave us several excellent suggestions. Location is very convenient near the subway and within walking distance of lots of great food options and nightlife. The evening doorman ensures that you can come and go in the...
Read moreRead morePros:| Location - it is central and within walking distance to most of the main sights around the city center. | Big rooms with ample space for luggages/bagpacks. Great shower with strong water pressure. The rooms facing the street are actually quite quiet (we’ve been in much worse). | Breakfast is adequate as noted by others and there is a water refill machine which is great. ||Cons:| The TV in the room needs upgrading to Smart TVs - probably a must have in this day and age for a hotel of an international brand. | Also, there is a lack of plugs by the bedside for charging of devices (we found some under one bedside table..okay for us but not the most convenient of locations). | The pool is small but lovely, however can only accommodate no more than 10pax at any given time, not ideal for a hotel with so many rooms. | Gym is small with no floor space for more than one person using the free weights. ||Our biggest gripe was the inability to pay in USD via debit card, something that we have done in other boutique hotels around Chile (and South America). This meant that the traveller has to choose to pay a 19% tax if paying in Chilean Pesos (via debit or credit) or pay a credit fee if paying in USD. For an international brand like Accor/Mecure, this just seems absolutely absurd. ||Would hesitate...
Mercure. Stayed here two for a night on my first visit to Santiago. First night check in was late ( 14/3/25 midnight) but was treated with kindness from a male desk clerk ( forgot his name but he had a Madonna record) he was super kind, helpful, pleasant and I was able to order room service. With a full belly and great sleep I was happy.
On my second stay my first room on 12th floor reeked of mold despite being cleaned. The second room was on 6 and much better. The WiFi was terrible for the stay- had to burn cellular data unfortunately. The pool was nice to cool off in and there was music in the background which gave a vibe. The blow dryer will turn off quickly when used on high- took a while to dry my hair. Calling the front desk, they are aware and they did not have portable blowers available. Location wise this hotel is great with lots to see and do! If uber isn’t available there is a taxi service the hotel uses.
⭐️Like any big city- use common sense and don’t be flashy. People leave reviews about crime- it’s everywhere! Not the hotel’s fault. I was warned to be careful by staff and the 24/7 security guard present. Rio, NYC, Paris, Cartagena, Miami, Rome, even the Bahamas all have crime and people with bad intentions ⭐️
Will be back for a longer...
