We are a mature couple traveling on a budget and we highly recommend Hotel Monaldi as a place to stay in Viña del Mar. It was our home away from home for six weeks and we have only positive comments to make. The Monaldi is a wonderfully funky budget hotel with interesting antiques and memorabilia everywhere you look, and the rates are very reasonable. The location is excellent, with beaches, parks and restaurants just a short walk away. We found the hotel to be very clean and quiet, and the staff absolutely super. Our room was an upstairs matrimonial with a private bathroom. The room was very well appointed, the bed was comfortable, there was lots of hot water at both the bathroom sink and the shower, and the WiFi signal in our room was strong. We found the breakfast buffet (included) to be very substantial, and coffee and cookies were available all day. Finally, there are a number of comfortably furnished common areas in the hotel, and a computer is also available (free) in one of the common areas on...
Read moreLocated right in down town Viña del mar Hotel Monaldi welcomes its guests with a charming atmosphere and a magical decoration. Its best features are the old furniture and antiques that decorates every corner of the building making you feel in other time. It's rare to find a place that conserved all those items like they do; that you will enjoy exploring the facilities to see what else you can discover. Prices are really convinient and complementary breakfast is served until 10 am each morning. Banks & ATM's; bars, restaurants, drugstores, supermarkets and more are few steps away. They offer parking lot but I you want to explore the city by your own you can walk to the beach, casino or mall. If you wish to visit Valparaiso you can use the local transportation for less than a dollar and take it right across the street. The reason of my score is because the mattress was not as comfortable and It took me awhile to get hot water in the shower. Everything else it's just lovely. A...
Read moreWe booked 3 nights in advance, but really we should have only booked one night and got the hell out of there. The shower so small and filthy we didn't take a shower for 3 days till we moved to our next hotel! There was dust everywhere. Dust and grime all over the heater. The place has character and a zillion antiques, but the whole house really needs to be replaced. It is past its use by date or needs major renovation. Very noisy street but well located. After this horror we went and checked out several hotels nearby and noticed they all have very tiny showers. So good luck finding a decent bathroom in vina del mar. They really should lower the price because it is not worth the money. It is like a grungy hostal for cheap and nasty travellers who will take anything and the price should match. We didn't even touch the breakfast there. I had one sip of the horrible orange cordial drink they offered and that was the last sip. Poor...
