AVOID!!! AWFULLY RUDE MANAGEMENT. DISGUSTING, TINY ROOMS.
I wish we had checked the Google reviews before booking. As others have said, these guys are absolute scam artists and provided the worst service (and stay) we've ever had. Agoda and Booking suggested an 8 star rating which suggests the owners have been posting false reviews themselves.
It's in a very unpleasant, dirty and damp arcade building. On arrival the manager took my passport, had words with other staff in which they suggested kicking someone else out of their room for us, before slapping my passport back on the bench and telling me to come back after 7pm. After I refused to do so, they found me a room on another floor.
The man here, floor 3 Block D, was pleasant. However the room was tiny and very, very damp (see photos).
On the 2nd of 3 nights we got back to our room to find our key card didn't work. When I called up to reception the manager told me that he had deliberately deactivated my card as I hadn't left a key deposit (true as I didn't have any cash when I checked in having just arrived). He then said I needed to travel to reception to give him cash. In this building at night that could take 20 mins because the lifts have huge queues. Clearly with all of our belongings in the room, and with a third night booked, we were not going to steal their key card!
After 15 minutes a man reappeared and reactivated our card. At this point my trust in the management was at zero so I chose not to give them $100 for the card deposit.
Instead we moved the next morning to the island at a much nicer place for...
Read moreRoom is quite small but you have your own toilet with hot and cold water. They also have a pantry area where you could use their microwave and fridge. They also provide free water at the pantry. At the block where we checked in, they have a two small lifts (I think all of the blocks have at least two lifts). ||||Receptionist is so kind, also the one who assisted us to our room (I think they are both Indians). At the ground floor of Chungking Mansion, there numbers of Foreign Exchange, just check who among them offers good price. During our stay it was the forex located in the middle who offered good forex (I forgot the name of the establishment but the label was blue). There are also several Indian restaurants who offered good food. 10Hkd for a rice and 30-35Hkd for viand.||||The hostel offers a discounted HK Disneyland and Ocean Park tickets but you could also find some Indians offering a discounted tickets at the ground floor. (I got Mine for 530Hkd (Original price was 589Hkd)||||You could also find luggage's and bags at the Ground floor stalls.||||One thing I just noticed, we cannot watch Television during the morning (no reception/ signal) but I just don't know if this is usual since we are just first timers in HK. In the Philippines, people usually wake up at 6AM or earlier, but in HK 9 or 10 AM is...
Read moreIf you're in a travel budget and feels that you only need accomodation for end of day reprieve after your exhausting adventure, then this hostel is your match. We were a group of 13 and had paid for 4 triple sharing but 3 had been upgraded to family room. We were not expecting too much space since ive had accomodation in other hostels some years ago so the upgrade was a nice treat. The hostel itself is quiet though the ground floor on the way up is like a chaotic market and the elevator is slow but then this i think is not of so much importance (u wont ride the elevator all the time of ur stay right?) We were also able to get discounted tickets from Harry (the receptionist, security officer, et al) for Disney and Ocean Park. There are numerous money changer in the ground floor and everything is just within walking distance from the hostel. 7-11, mcdo, kfc, the mtr station, the bus stop to and from the airport making our DIY HK travel easier... Generally, the place is good enough for people on low budget who wants to save every penny to cross out that LV bag and Cannon camera in their...
