I’ve never left a negative review before but unfortunately today I’ve had to. We are easy to please and yet unfortunately Kaboom let us down. For the price you’re paying you expect the service to be excellent, yet I wouldn’t have even given it 1 stars.

Before I talk about the negative, the views are genuinely amazing, the majority of waiting staff upstairs were incredibly polite, and the food and drinks were tasty.

When you arrive despite having a booking, you have to wait to be given a ticket for upstairs. There’s no smiles or kindness from the team downstairs and they’re just direct in their communication. There’s also no clear signage as to how to access the upstairs and quite frankly it’s not clean transferring between floors which puts you off.

When you get upstairs you expect the views to draw you in, unfortunately there’s a whole plastic tent above you and the tables are so low with the chairs, as a female in heels or for a tall gentleman it’s incredibly uncomfortable to sit and eat. I understand why it’s there due to rains, but it needs adjusting. Higher cover and normal height tables and chairs. However we did see that if the tent wasn’t there, the views are magical and the restaurant location is fantastic.

The food tasted nice and came out quickly and efficiently but the service let us down by one individual. The waitress with the bandana was incredibly rude to us, despite her spilling a drink on my husbands lap. She was quick to walk away from the situation rather than be humble about it, we didn’t make a fuss whatsoever.

After the drink was spilled, there was a puddle on the floor and rather than moving my husband no one addressed it, he was expected to sit there with the drink on the chair and floor around him, so I had to move my husband myself. It took an incredibly long time to clean up the floor and no one reassured us that it was in process.

We sat right by where the food is siphoned from the kitchen and our replacement drink was sat there for a long time. The same waitress was encouraged to serve it to us by other waiting staff for what felt like an eternity but chose to avoid doing so, as if we were to blame for her mistake. She only needed to walk 2 metres with it and I could see what she was doing. Eventually someone else served it who wasn’t responsible for our table.

When our main courses were finally served, the plate wasn’t even put in front of me by the same waitress in the bandana, it was put on the other side of the table away from me. Someone from the waiting team saw this and was quick to come over and apologise and correct her mistake. The whole table was empty, there was no reason for her to do this.

It’s your first night of a magical holiday, no one wants to be disappointed as you are on a high. We are not customers who enjoy complaining but genuinely we are left with no choice.

I’ve been in service before, we’ve all made mistakes and understand. It’s not about making them or spilling the drink, but it’s about how it’s handled. Frustrated doesn’t even cover it. Please teach your waitress how to deal with...

KABOOM - A Culinary Adventure in the Heart of Tsim Sha Tsui 📍20/F, Prince Tower, 12A Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀北京道12A號太子集團中心20樓

Liquorice Cool Mint Tea ($48) 🫖💯👍

A refreshing start to your dining experience, this tea is an aromatic blend that balances the subtle sweetness of liquorice with the invigorating kick of cool mint. It's perfect for those looking for a calming sip before indulging in KABOOM's bold flavors.

KABOOM Snacks Combo ($208) 🥨🍘🥠👍

A symphony of textures and tastes, this combo includes pork skewers, crispy chicken wings, Thai fish cakes, netted spring rolls, and shrimp patty. Each bite delivers a unique burst of flavor, making it an ideal sharing platter. Whether you're drawn to the smoky pork skewers or the delicate crunch of the netted spring rolls, this dish sets the tone for the feast ahead.

Thai Lobster Sauce Spaghetti with Canada Lobster Tail ($268) 🦞🍝👍

Seafood lovers, rejoice! This dish features al dente spaghetti enveloped in a luscious lobster sauce and topped with a perfectly grilled Canadian lobster tail. The garlic confit and broccoli add depth and balance to this indulgent plate, while the sweet, juicy lobster steals the show.

Tom Yum Coconut Risotto with Hokkaido Scallops and Sea Urchin ($208) 🍛💯👍

A fusion masterpiece, this risotto marries the tangy and spicy notes of Tom Yum sauce with the rich creaminess of coconut milk. The grilled Hokkaido scallops and fresh sea urchin elevate this dish to pure decadence, while the mushrooms and garlic confit provide earthy undertones. It's a unique twist on classic risotto, and one that'll leave your taste buds dancing.

Overall Experience👍😋❤️

KABOOM effortlessly blends Thai-inspired flavors with international techniques, creating a dining experience that's as memorable as the skyline views it offers. Whether you're here for a casual meal or a special celebration, KABOOM invites you to embrace the explosion of flavors—and you'll leave wanting to relive it all over again.

Really bad experience.

Got tripped by the shisha put on the ground at another table as it’s dark at night. Ankle got burnt by the coal. Partially my fault I’m sorry for making the mess but their reaction was baffling. The only people who asked if I was ok were actually the other customers. Not one staff asked if I was hurt or if I needed anything.

We asked for ice and water immediately for the wound. Staff was too busy serving other customers like bringing beers to table, taking orders etc. Had to ask three times before we eventually got the ice. The staff was already long gone as we started saying, ‘we would like to have some water for…’ Priorities of the staff were messed up. My friend had to get up and approach a staff by the bar to get some ice. If they didn’t know the shisha burned me so there was no reaction, they would have known by now cause my friend told them that. Still, no response. Well, no one cares 🤷🏻‍♀️

No utensils throughout the appetisers. We were like ok, we were just having tacos and fries we could still use our hands for that. As we moved to the main courses which were risotto and pasta, still no one noticed that we didn’t have no forks/ spoons. We again had to ask several times before we get some. We waited for 15 min for our utensils to arrive and the food had already gone cold.

Plates were not cleared. By the time we finished the main courses, plates of the appetisers were still on the table.

Food was alright. Some dishes were bland like the truffle fried and the roasted chicken. Pasta and risotto would probably be better if they were hot but we wouldn’t know would we? Couldn’t feel much of the booze in cocktails.

About $500/ person. It’s not expensive but I think I’d have got more attention/ service from tam jai noodle place/ cha chaan teng. I get that it’s understaffed. I’m generally not picky and I’m very used to hk service level. And I know this is not a fine dining restaurant they don’t give 5* service. However, how they handled the shisha accident was unacceptable. It’s really hard to get staff’s attention unless your whole body is on...
