Kowloon Shangri-La – A Legendary Luxury Experience with Unbeatable Views & Service
If you want true Hong Kong luxury with breathtaking harbour views, world-class dining, and impeccable service, the Kowloon Shangri-La is an absolute must-stay.
The Suite – Unreal Panoramic Harbour Views
I stayed in a harbour-view suite, and the panoramic vistas of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island were simply mesmerizing. Waking up to that skyline, day or night, was a dream—floor-to-ceiling windows made it even more spectacular. The suite itself was spacious, elegant, and luxuriously appointed, with every comfort considered.
Horizon Club Lounge – Worth Every Penny
Booking a Horizon Club room or suite is a MUST. The exclusive lounge access elevates the experience with: ✔ Stunning harbour views (even better than some rooms!) ✔ Gourmet all-day dining (breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails & canapés) ✔ Personalized service (the staff here go above and beyond)
Michelin-Starred Dining – Shang Palace (17 Years & Counting!)
Dinner at Shang Palace was a culinary masterpiece—no wonder it’s held a Michelin star for 17 consecutive years. The Cantonese dishes were exquisite, from the crispy Peking duck to the perfectly steamed dim sum. The ambiance is opulent yet intimate, making it a truly special dining experience.
Nadaman Teppanyaki – A Sizzling Delight
We also tried Nadaman, their Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The chef’s table experience was entertaining, and the Wagyu beef, fresh seafood, and flavorful fried rice were cooked to perfection right in front of us.
Tapas & Drinks – A Perfect Evening Wind-Down
For a more relaxed vibe, we enjoyed tapas and cocktails at one of their stylish bars. The drinks were creative, and the bites were perfect for sharing while soaking in the sophisticated ambiance.
Prime Location – Convenience at Its Best
✔ **2-minute walk to East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR (super convenient for exploring) ✔ Easy Airport Express access (just one stop from Kowloon Station) ✔ Steps away from Victoria Harbour waterfront & K11 Musea
Impeccable Service – Shangri-La’s Signature Hospitality
From check-in to check-out, the staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay flawless. Little touches—like personalized greetings and turndown service—made it feel truly luxurious.
Final Verdict – Hong Kong Luxury at Its Finest

Read moreThe good: Location is very good - near shopping and restaurants. Decor is very nice. Some of the staff is very good. The main plus of this hotel is the view of Victoria Harbour, if you pay the extra money for a room with that view. The bad: Staff Is OK, but not as attentive as other 5-star hotels. When we arrived in a taxi, nobody came to help us unload our luggage, so we unloaded it from the taxi ourselves. I had booked a Club room for which the check-in desk was on the top floor. We were pointed to the elevators to go up, but still nobody helped with our luggage - we lugged the luggage to the elevator and to the club check-in. The lady at the Club check-in desk was accommodating and polite, but when we finished the checking process, we still had to take our own luggage to our room. No one offered to help. In the club lounge, staff is not very attentive. We sat down and wanted to order drinks, but it took quite a while for someone to get to us. A few times, the Club staff forgot our order and we had to ask again. This inattentiveness of the lounge staff was repeated several times during our stay. The one notable exception was gentleman by the name of Derek - he was very attentive and helpful. At other 5-star hotels, staff always open the door open for you when you approach the entry door. At this hotel, it was hit-or-miss... sometimes there was someone there to open the door other times there was not. In the Club lounge, the food is a bit monotonous - pretty much the same food each day. The eggs Benedict came with the Hollandaise sauce brown from being baked on. The swimming pool in the fitness center is quite small compared to other 5-star hotels. When I went to the fitness center wanting to use the fitness bicycle, the man on duty said I cannot go in because I did not have fitness clothes on... yes, seriously!!! I had jeans on and a T-shirt. This is the first time I have had that happen in any hotel - to actually refuse me entry to their fitness center because I did not have specific fitness clothes on! Just as a point of reference, I have been to at least a dozen 5-star hotels in Hong Kong in the last 4 years and none have turned me away from their fitness center - I wore the...
Read moreMy family and I stayed at the Deluxe King Harbour view room in November 2024 and I’m so glad we chose this accommodation over the many other options in the area.
We had emailed the hotel in advance about arriving early and if it was possible to do an early check-in. We also let them know that we will be celebrating a very special anniversary. Not only did the hotel accommodate a super early check-in (7am), they also decorated the room with the most beautiful and welcoming reception. They had balloons put up that said “Congrats – I made it”, bouquet of flowers, a small stuffed animal for my 4yr old son, and a card with a very sweet message. It was so thoughtful and it was a great start to our journey in Hong Kong.
Location: walkable to the hustle & bustle of Tsim Tsa Tsui area but distant enough to allow for breathing room, particularly across the beautiful Victoria harbor. The pier to get onto the ferry to cross the harbor is just across the hotel. Note that the hotel is connected to the bridge that takes you across Nathan Road to get to the pier.
Food: buffet breakfast was great. Different types of cuisines with many options. There were also plenty of made-to-order items. The dimsum selection was small and given the reputation of dimsum in HK, I wished they had more options.
Service: all the staff members we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. No issue communicating in English. Concierge helped us negotiate taxi fare when we wanted to go to Ngong Ping – this was much appreciated!
Room: a view of the harbor is a must if you’re staying! The view of the sunrise and lights from the buildings across the harbor at night is just picturesque of what you expect HK to look like. The room was clean and spacious. They had binoculars in the room, which was a nice surprise and my son loved to use it to look out the window to the other side of the harbor.
Overall an amazing stay and we’ll be returning to this hotel when we visit HK again in the...
