Okay so the beds are pretty nice and it is a clean hostel. When I was there, there was a young man who worked the front desk in the mornings, and a young women who front desk at night. Both spoke English well, the women at night was quiet fluent in English. They were both very kind. Lot of issues came up, and they would call their manager- since I speak Cantonese, I would hear them both explain the situation clearly and fairly. I think they are both great. ||But other then that- I am truly not sure if this establishment is safe and I am on the process of reporting it to booking.com. There are a few reasons. I will start with the worst- ||The hostel itself is quite nice and very clean but to enter or exit the building is truly horrific. I can not imagine the building is up to standard or health code. When you enter the building, there is trash everywhere and it is a constant construction site. It smells so bad and there are many construction workers all over. ||The elevator is so small and also looks like a construction site. It is not finished. I opted for the 5 flights of stairs mostly, and it was gross. Trash everywhere, it smelled so bad. I know this is technically not the hostels’ fault, it is the building, but I HATED coming and leaving. I planned my whole day around entering and exiting as little as possible. ||But what really pushed me over the edge was the very rude cleaning lady. The receptionist call her “Auntie.” A part of me respects her because she keeps the hostel clean, but I speak fluent Cantonese and she said some awful things. ||I would hear her talk to the younger receptionist who seem to like her, but also kind of scare of her, but the cleaning auntie would talk about how she was so mad at guest for taking an extra pillow and so she hid their shoes… and then she would laugh wondering if they would ever find their shoes. One day I hear her talking about me, the fat American girl, and the receptionist said “I think she is from Malaysia” and she said “no I saw her American passport.” My passport was inside of my backpack. Did she go looking through my backpack? Nothing was missing, but still. ||Once I was in the shower, she knocked so I covered my body with a towel and opened the door. Then she started shoving the mop at my feet. Didn’t say a word. So here I am, mid-shower, standing there as she is cleaning… so I got my things and went to another shower. ||I know good help is hard to find, and I do think she is good at her job… the hostel is clean. But even talking to other guest- they are scared of her… and they don’t even know what she is saying. ||My towel went missing. It was on my bed and went missing. I asked for a new one, the young women at the front desk called her manager and explained the situation. Again- I speak Cantonese so I heard the whole story. She said “another girl’s towel went missing…” The manager was like tough luck- they have to pay the fee ($13 USD) and the girl was like “ummm well maybe Auntie took it?” She meant the cleaning lady. I am super thankful the girl tried on my behalf but at the end of the day the manager said it was my problem. ||Guys- I can’t tell you how unpleasant this stay was. It gave me so stress to leave the hostel and come back and to deal with cleaning lady auntie. I was scared to shower when she was around, I was scared to do anything. ||I will never stay here again and I don’t recommend it. I uploaded...
Read moreI never have left a bad opinion on a hostel I stayed, but boy oh boy, today im losing my virginity on this. Please buckle up, and join me in this sad tale.||||I stayed with my wife and my 2 year old boy for 3 days. I selected this place because it was under the highest scored places with a private room while being "kid friendly". Also, the photos looked good and had good comments.||||The pictures were really deceptive. While the hostel is located in a run-down, half destroyed building on the fifth floor, nothing looks as it is actually is. Whoever designed this hostel had 0 taste. Concrete walls with no colour, large sheets instead of doors, and some really weird and ugly paintings on the walls everywhere.||||The problems began even before we got to our room. First, we arrived at noon from the airport, and they send us off to the street because "the check in time is at 2". Alright, our bad. When we came back after lunch we had to wait an extra hour until 3, outside on the hallway, because they were not ready yet. Not cool when is so hot outside. The indoor AC didnt help either, as it looked they keep it at the lowest posible speed for saving money.||||Although the place is listed as kid friendly, the facilities were full of garbage, like empty glass bottles, dirty buckets, little ugly things on the walls, dirty windows, bathroom full of paint cans, or even plants on the ground. Can you imagine dear reader how easily the admin did hate us for having a kid in their kid friendly place playing with all those things.||||The private room we got was small, like stupid small. The 3 of us didnt fit on the bed. Later, as i had to sleep on the floor, I asked for an extra pillow or mattress, but surprise, they dont have extra pillows, or even a blanket.||||In the website, they offer a kitchen to use, and free coffee. But unfortunately they didnt have spoons, so all coffee was made using a spork.||||The common bathroom didnt help, as it looked like they only used water to clean the floor.||||On their small (really small) common area they had some information related to some free tours. I went to 2 off them, but surprise, the maps that they offer are pre-covid so all meeting places were wrong. I loose the chance to visit some places in my short stay in hong kong.||||The next day my kid got sick, and they did not want to offer any information related to hospitals. I had the luck of having a friend who could help me with an address. Also, as my kid vomited on the bed, they angrily confronted me demanding money for changing the sheets (and towels and water bottles).||||In short, their attitude towards us was aggressive during our complete stay. We are coming back to hong kong in a month and we have a 2 days non-refundable booking with them. I prefer to loose my money before going back.||||if you manage to read up to this point please AVOID this place. I will try to left a complaint in the tourism burou, plus hostels.com for being such a aggressive, low quality, unhealthy...
Read more非常差的體驗。我因突發住院無法入住,住宿方毫無同理心,不但拒絕退款,還大概率轉手再賣賺兩筆。冷血又趁人之危。建議任何可能遇上突發狀況的旅客,不要預訂這家。
Terrible experience. Strongly recommend that travelers who may face unpredictable or uncontrollable events AVOID booking with this property. You won’t find any understanding here.
I was hospitalized and couldn’t make the trip, but the property showed zero compassion—refused any refund, likely resold the room and made money twice. Heartless and opportunistic.
*Full story: I booked a two-night stay in this property through Booking.com, but unfortunately, I was hospitalized due to a sudden illness right before the trip and couldn’t travel. I missed the free cancellation window, but given the circumstances, I reached out to the property with a sincere explanation and hoped for at least a partial refund or credit.
To my dismay, they showed absolutely no flexibility or empathy—refusing to refund even a single dollar. What’s worse is that there’s a high chance they re-sold the room to someone else after I couldn’t show up. In other words, they likely profited twice from my misfortune, which feels incredibly unfair and opportunistic.
I understand policies are policies, but this kind of cold, profit-first attitude in the face of genuine emergencies is deeply disappointing.
**Supplementary Reply to the Hotel’s Response: The hotel’s response to my medical emergency was completely unreasonable. Comparing their cancellation policy to legal responsibilities is a huge stretch. I didn’t get to stay due to an unexpected illness, yet they refused any refund, keeping my money without providing any service. Their lack of empathy and fairness is disappointing.
!!!Avoid this place if you think you might face unforeseen...
