🪳🪳🪳 Absolutely awful experience. Passed by so many times, admiring it’s minimal and elegant set up. Finally booked and tried today and I was beyond disappointed. We sat at the bar, and the two staff preparing drinks kept talking. At some point they were even gossiping about other staff. There were a lot of staff but they were not coordinated and different people kept coming up to us to ask to take our order several times. My friend ordered a vegetarian set, and after the order was taken, we were then informed that the rice would take about 30 mins to prepare. We said ok, and the rice came and it was completely undercooked. The waitress tried to explain that their rice is undercooked like that 🙄. The chef finally came to speak with us and gave us another set in the end. We also ordered dessert when we ordered our sets, which the staff came back 5 minutes later and said they ran out of what we originally ordered. When we were ready for dessert, then came with the wrong dessert and they place a wrong order of our already second choice… everything was wrong. Here comes the worst part: there were 2 🪳🪳DEAD COCKROACHES JUST UNDERNEATH OUR BAR TABLE!!!! I informed the staff and they just simply said they would clean it up. We paid (unwillingly) and left immediately. Overall: food is not special but way over priced, staff were not helpful, and had COCKROACHES🪳 Awful experience and I will not...

You can only reserve through an online link. Perhaps because of this unusual practice, I had extreme high expectations and it turns out to be a bit disappointing.

I ordered a set B and C and was told that it takes about 30 mins. I guess In this end it didn’t take that long but the fact that one set came earlier than the other is a bit inconvenient to me because one of us need to eat first.🤡

My honest opinion is that the food is not bad. Except the beef was too raw for my taste. The matcha was also a big disappointment.

I also only found out that you have to preorder for the matcha tiramisu. Plus, we saw that one of the kitchen staff was touching his own money with his gloves and then went on to handle the food.

I support small shops but in my opinion this restaurant is a bit overrated. For me there are too many rules to follow. But it’s worth...

We didn’t have a booking and when we arrive they were fully booked and the staff was nice, she ask if we mind if we wait for 15 min because there was a booking and if they are late their booking will get cancelled and we can replace their booking. In the end we got the table. The food is was good but I would say it’s on a pricey side and also the potion was very very small. And later we were only informed that we MUST ORDER at least a drink EACH. This js why I don’t like Hong Kong restaurants, they force service charge and extra service on the your bill. I understand if it’s a cafe and if I’m just sitting there for hours and I had to order at least a drink and cake. But I started my dinner at 8:30pm and they close at 10pm. I order 6 dishes and they still force you with other extra charges. Just a one time visit, don’t think will revisit...

<Another Japanese Style Eatery in Sham Shui Po> To be honest, everything in Chew Chew reminds me of ZapJok, another Japanese style cafe and restaurant in Sham Shui Po, which uses wooden furnitures, and eating utensils from a Japanese store in the neighbourhood. Even the food menu is a bit familiar… Nevertheless, you could feel that the owner put a lot of effort and planning in decorating the eatery. And it’s definitely nice to appreciate these beautiful pieces of deco and furniture. The Fried Chicken with IPA Beer Batter was absolutely delicious!!! I could actually taste the sweetness from the beer malt! And of course, nothing can beat freshly fried juicy chicken with crispy skin. The Mikan Honey Soda was very delightful too, and it went very well with the set. It was just a little bit pricey though…
