I had a truly terrifying experience during my quarantine stay at OZO Wesley, when I got trapped inside the shower enclosure for 2.5 hours.
Due to a poorly installed glass shower door becoming increasingly misaligned, on the fourth night of my stay the door got stuck when the bottom seal strip formed a suction with the threshold so strong that it was impossible to pull the door open from inside the enclosure. I banged on the glass non-stop, hoping someone would hear me. At one point a staff member actually acknowledged the noise I made since they knocked on my front door. I waited for what seemed like forever, yet no help arrived for me. At that point I really believed I had to spend at least the next 12 hours in the shower until the breakfast delivery person came around. In my hysteria I attempted everything I could to free myself, including climbing the slippery wall and breaking the glass. Fortuitously when I tried to kick down the door I found that it could break the suction and allowed me to push off the seal strip, and I managed to free myself after being trapped for 2.5 hours.
The maintenance team fixed the door the next day, but I have had panic attacks and insomnia from the trauma. The front office staff were cordial and attentive during the rest of my stay. However, I feel that they trivialised the seriousness of my emotional turmoil by calling this incident an “unpleasant experience” during follow-up communication, when it was truthfully the most traumatic 2.5 hours of my life. The most appalling part of all of this was that a staff member neglected my desperate call for help. I asked to be contacted by the general manager but my request was flatly rejected.
Needless to say I will not be staying at OZO Wesley again. In the aftermath of my entrapment, they did check all their showers and review their crisis response, so this place is probably okay for...
Read moreHaving spent a week at Ozo Wesley for the HK Govt. mandated quarantine, I have to say, impressed.
The room was, although compact and smallish, it was very very clean. No smell of mold and everything felt fresh to the touch.
Refrigerator was working, which helped store the cold drinks delivered with the meals
Deliveries were brought up within 10 mins, and food was always left outside the door within the specified time. Additional water bottles were provided on request, with no charge. Internet worked great, no issues with video calls.
Just a few points to note, the reasons for the 4 stars rather than 5
Other than the above, was always able to reach the reception within 2 calls, so that’s a plus as...
Read moreWe booked the biggest room in the hotel, which is reasonably spacious for the COVID price we paid. It’s just a clean and neat place without much of a design. Pretty generic ordinary hotel with white and blue theme. Good TV channels. Pretty strange furniture put together in one room which doesn’t really go together.
I guess it’s just a good spot for tourists to stay as it’s within walking distance to central and wanchai. We asked for a fork to eat something in the room and we were given a flimsy plastic fork. The tea bags provided are probably pretty old so the tea is tasteless. So bring your own teabags and cutlery if you’re planning to stay here. No this place doesn’t make me feel like home at all. Wouldn’t stay here again. Giving it a 3 stars for the cleanliness and the good...
