I had the most spectacular stay(s) at this absolutely gem of a hotel. Upper House blends a touch of modernity, comfort, and sprituality in its design, comfort, and service. It is what a 5 star hotel ought to be. I had arrived fairly early on the 1st day of my arrival, and the check-in staff were so considerate they had breakfast and coffee ready for me in the room. That small thoughtful gesture and touchpoint elevated my experience at the outset. The Room: I got to stay in the Studo 80 and the Upper House Suite Haborview rooms on this stay and as you can see from the photos the rooms are massive with a ton of space and great design to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. You can't get better views of Hong Kong than this hotel, and you literally feel enveloped by the mountains. The bathrooms are large and decadent that mirror in size of a standard hotel room. This much room in a city like Hong Kong is nearly impossible to find. I had a ton of closet space and lots of room to store toiletries and get dressed. The bathroom: The bathtub overlooking the mountain and the harbor is the ultimate amenity of the rooms you can't get better than this and it is by far the most relaxing experience to bathe in the hot tub before starting your day or ending the night you'll feel immersed in the tranquility of the room while overlooking the glitter of the city and the green mountains that envelope this hotel. The stand in shower is also large with spectacular water pressure. Toiletries provided by the hotel are top notch. The concierge and staff: I had asked the concierge staff (Sharon Lee) to suggest bars and restaurants and make bookings for us and she did a spectacular job in sorting that out for us and helping us experience Hong Kong for what it's best for. Quick on her feet, she made sure we were looked after. Nikki from reservations was also super professional and efficient. The amenities and restaurants: I had breakfast included and got to dine every morning at their restaurant on the 49th floor while enjoying stunning views of the city and the mountains. The green room bar is spectacular to start your night of with a drink. Their cafe downstairs also serves great coffee. The hotel had a discreet entrance, and you feel drawn to the quaint atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Location: You are connected to Pacific Mall so there is no shortage of restaurant, shops, and cafes - literally at your doorstep. Definitely a Must stay in HK I'll return and stay every time! 💯👌🏽🙏🏽

The Upper House is an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. The rooms are stunningly beautiful, framing the energy of Hong Kong city and views of the harbor. Showing inconsequential signs of age, it is pure joy to spend time in these rooms. It combines the warmth of a boutique hotel with understated elegance that should be the definition of ultimate luxury. It has a restaurant and bar that has a top notch wine and cocktail menu. Breakfast is served ala-carte and is a peaceful affair. The gym is relatively small but well equipped enough to meet your fitness needs. Cable machine, ski machine, free weights that go up to 20kg, and several cardio machines. There’s no pool but that’s not an issue for us. Location is of course top notch, being located at Pacific Place, attached to world class shopping - all the top brands and HK retailers. Attached to MTR station Admiralty too - brings you to Central, TST at a drop off a hat. Kudos to K Ma and the team for taking care of us with warmth, hospitality and going the extra mile. K got us a last minute reservation for Mother’s Day just 2 hours before dinner. Recommendation was outstanding. Thank you K! Our family have been traveling to HK for years and stayed at many of the “top” hotels in HK. It is not without exaggeration to say that Upper House is a destination in itself. This is our 2nd stay at Upper House and we will definitely be back. They are most deserving of their spot on the world’s best hotels list.

We had the studio 80 for our stay last week. My experience with upper house first time I would vote it at 3 stars with travelling around worldwide a little and stayed at various places. The worst thing is the bed. It’s large and a super king maybe, but it’s very soft and you can see it’s already wore out just by seeing it without actually sleeping on it . ( you can see the bed is sloping and sagging in the middle ) Then secondly let’s talk about our dinner. Our dinner was served in room since all restaurants are needed to shut at 6pm, Covid restrictions etc. Fair enough, we know that beforehand and so does the hotel I guess. Since we have no dining table in our room, they first provided a tray with our dinner on some wooden legs which is reaching my chin when I sat down trying to eat on the sofa. Way too high By means I might need to stand up and have our dinner bending over. It’s a no go so we asked for a shorter ‘legs ‘. We then finally be able to have our dinner by the sofa. ( I would of thought as a 5 stars hotel , they normally set up a proper table and chairs for meals in rooms ? Which is my understanding and experiences unless I’m wrong lol ) Thirdly just a quick few words to cut it short, I smelled urine in the toilet! Of course before I even used it. End off . I am sure there are a lot of choices out there with similar prices but better quality. Or at least a nicer bed which actually gives you a ok sleep. That’s any hotel’s goal I believe.

When I pulled up in my taxi at noon, there was no one to take my luggage or greet me. There were no porters at all. I saw an employee helping to load another group of guests’ luggage in the car at snail's speed. Even after, he just stood there and completely ignored me. My taxi driver was dumbfounded and I had to open the door myself and carry the luggage inside while the employee watched; there were several staff members inside who did not bother to come out and assist. Later during my entire stay, I was not greeted once entering or leaving the property. The staff did not even bother to smile and just stared at me, unlike how they treated other guests.

Check-in was friendly and efficient. I was offered to sit down and hand the staff my ID and credit card. The room, however, wasn’t ready initially, so I was told it would be ready in half an hour. Luckily, the wait was shorter than that and I was escorted to the room and given a friendly room tour. During the stay, except for check-out, the porters were not proactive in opening the door and sometimes ignored me, and did not smile either.

The first impression of the room was how small it was. Contrary to the advertised 730 square feet, it doesn’t feel nearly as large. The bedroom area was like any regular five-star hotel room which comes with a large bathroom. Certainly would not be mistaken for a suite or even a junior suite. For a hotel that is widely publicized for the size of the rooms, this is questionable. The bathroom and closet area in the end are unnecessarily large and redundant. There is not a proper foyer.

The furniture is well-maintained despite beginning to show its age. The sofa was comfortable but sinks in and is aging but the desk/fridge area was a joy to use. Television was fairly obsolete and had sound issues. Switching channels would make the sound either quiet or loud. One thing to be noted here is that this hotel offers adult films on Television. Families with children should be aware.

Compared to newer hotels, there are no wash-lets with bidet. The carpet was visibly stained across the room and there were scratches inside the closet. The air conditioner was hard to control and wasn’t working on the first presses. Even when it’s turned off the ventilation in the room is still not off. I still wake up feeling cold. One caveat was that the hair dryer had a scary burnt smell and only worked if you tilt it in certain ways.

My “mountain-view” room, was met with very little privacy. Neighboring skyscrapers of the Pacific Place and others take up most of the views and are within very close view. If the windows are two-way as they say, the people in the office towers could see clearly what goes on in the rooms. Overall, not a pleasant view to have. I did not get the nice mountain view in the advertising pictures. This is without question one of the worst rooms in the hotel.

There is a mandatory escalator which you will have to take to get to the rooms. This alone would be a reason not to return as I find it not very luxurious. The lobby area was also minuscule with little seating and pieces of luggage were stowed in public areas visibly.

Room service was consistently underwhelming except for a fantastic steak meal. Dan-Dan noodles were gooey and stuck together and tasted rather bad as well. Creme caramel was small in portion and had too much of an egg taste. Breakfast waffles were overpriced ($178) and mediocre. I would have to say each time I called, the operator was nice and well-spoken.

The check-out process was efficient but cold and informal. I was not offered to sit down like during check-in. Porter was quick to get the car door for me. But my luggage was not loaded in the car when I asked them to and I had to wave to them to load it. The car nearly left without it.

Overall I find the hotel to be overrated and overpriced. I did not feel like a valued guest and I can not see myself returning. The intention of this review was not for a better treatment in the future or any comp stays as I would rather stay elsewhere...

Spent 2 nights on a staycation and I had mixed feelings about this place. It's no doubt a great hotel, but mind you, TUH is listed as the 4th best hotel in the world, and it did not demonstrate why this prestigious position is justified.

First impression, this hotel was remodeled from a serviced apartment and clearly shows. You arrive at a reception area with no check-in desks but a small standing desk shared by 3-4 employees. There are only a few seating spaces too, which means when it gets busy (and it will), you will be standing while you wait for the staff to do their job. Also, since there's no dedicated concierge area, your stowed luggage will just be next to the entrance for everyone to see.

Now the room. It's unclear to me why their bigger room type (Studio 80) doesn't have a full harbor view, and you'll need to settle for a smaller room (Studio 70) to enjoy a full harbor view. The room was very spacious with an amazing bathroom that features 2 huge windows and a bathtub to enjoy the harbor view, although the staff politely pointed out that unless you are a nudist, it's best to close the blinds while you are showering/taking a bath, which kinda defeats the purpose. The staff kindly put up birthday decorations (ballons and banner) and wrote us a card, in addition to a small cake on the house. I have also mentioned in their pre-check-in form that I dislike humidity so they put a dehumidifier before my arrival, which was nice. 2 small knocks: 1) I brought my PS5 with me for a weekend gaming session and was surprised to find there's no plug near the TV area and I had to ask for an extension cord which kinda ruined the clean aesthetics of the room. and 2) the bed was too soft and felt like the mattress was collapsing.

Here comes the bad part, and it's mostly to do with service. My partner arrived later than me and she was disappointed that no one helped her with her bags nor acknowledged her. She told the front desk the room number and without asking her for an ID card or verifying with me (I did tell them a companion was coming later, but still), they straight up gave her an access card. My partner was confused so she asked them whether they needed to register her ID, and only then did the front desk say "Oh let me take a photo" and used what seemed to be her personal phone and took a photo. The whole thing was very messy and borderline unprofessional.

The front desk also locked me out on the 2nd day since I made 2 separate bookings for the same room type and they didn't link the 2 bookings together. Furthermore, I made the booking using my Amex card and was entitled to a 100 USD dining voucher, which I used in their restaurant, Salisterra. When I was checking out the front desk asked whether she could charge the bill to my card. I was confused since her colleague called me a day before to remind me about it so I told her about this and she got her manager involved, and only then did the manager confirm that the voucher offsets the bill. Oh and speaking of Salisterra, on our 2nd day there our breakfast took 30 minutes to arrive, and the waiter gave our drinks to another table. These lapses in service standards should never have happened in a standard 5-star hotel, let alone the 4th-best hotel...
