The food here is excellent, but I had to dock a few stars for rude service that left a bad taste in our mouths when we left.
We were visiting HK while on holiday and had heard rave reviews about this place, so we wanted to give it a visit. We were worried there would be queues, so we decided to order the food for pick-up (via deliveroo) and go to a nearby park to sit.
When we arrived there were a lot of tables open, so we asked if we could just eat there. They told us we had to sit on benches outside of the restaurant, to which we said “ok, no problem.”
When the food arrived, we were told we could sit on the restaurant’s outdoor stools, so we did as we were told. But on our way out, we were admonished by one of the hostesses, who told us that the stools were for guests who ordered at the restaurant, and that if we wanted to sit in, we had to order and pay there.
We apologized, told her that made sense, and explained why we had ordered ahead for pick up - but instead of just saying “no worries, for next time then” or representing any sort of degree of understanding, the hostess continued to publicly berate us for ordering ahead.
It’s totally fine to tell your customers that they’ve made a mistake - but to continue admonishing them, and to have them leave the restaurant feeling horrible for making an honest mistake, is inexcusable. Anybody with significant service experience knows you cannot treat your customers that way.
I would not include this restaurant on my list of HK...
Read moreI always enjoy visiting here, either for a mid week pick me up and getting a little work busted out or a weekend social drink with friends. The staff are top notch, very friendly and approachable. I've been really impressed with how the team will ask how your order was and seem to care about getting it right. A very welcome breath of fresh air for Hong Kongs stereotypical lackluster service industry. The average establishment couldn't seem to care less about your experience and I think this attention to detail is what keeps me coming back.
The atmosphere is chill but with a "vibe" and background energy which can make it a great social spot, the location is fantastic as it's off the main streets enough to not be bothered by noise but isn't directly opposite a refuse center unlike another coffee shop around the corner. Plants are kept in the surrounding area giving a nice colour to the otherwise gray city and overall it's very enjoyable.
The only things I think could be improved are the outdoor seating options, mounted to the bar it is definitely an aesthetic but I must say they're not the most comfortable option and being fixed makes them less than ideal.
Overall really happy to continue sporadically visiting this location and enjoying the top notch coffee, fantastically friendly staff and very enjoyable...
Read moreIt was a day pouring and yellow red yellow red rainstorm signal hoisted switching like a traffic light.
Originally got the plan with friend to have a tasting of sourdough in pedder building but forced to change and once again, it always come to me something unexpected when you are not following the plan.
The star street zone is definitely one of the beautiful community ever established in HK and I have been to there thousands of time and never get bored even pouring outside. The restaurants are mostly refined and delightful to taste and fortunely this one is no expection.
Simply ordered the lunch set with their signature smoothies and no disappointment over each of them. The smoothie is one of the best I have ever tried in the way each of the ingredients could be defined when drinking of it.
The only drawback is limited seats and dining area and expecting long queue when the...
