Long Q to check in - 15th July, so we were given the option of waiting or leaving the luggage at the conceirge while they check in whenever..so we decided to leave the luggage in the concierge while they get ready our room.
Nice big room, comfortable, clean. Huge bathroom, very clean. Pretty efficient room service.
On checking out -19th July, since our flight was delayed till late, we left our luggage with the friendly concierge while we went out for a few hours.
On our returned at about 4pm, we did a last minute rearranging of our luggage and while doing so, I left my mobile on the table, just near the concierge. We left. 15 minutes later, upon realizing this horrifying incident, rushed back to the hotel, heart beating nervously - imaging losing our handphone with everything in it - literally all. Asked a client seated at the table, if she had seen a handphone, and she replied negatively. But another lady, also seated next to the table, overheard, and said that a staff took it.
So, I approached the reception, it was check- in timing, so there was a very long Queue, but obviously, I was already panicking, so I approached a young male staff, and told him the problem - he asked me to join the Q! that he is serving a customer now, so I have to join the Q! So, I explained again the matter but without any note of empathy - he insisted that I join the Q that he is busy serving the customer for check in now....how sad:( I left while he continued serving his customer:(
I approached a front office senior male officer, who was so patient, and upon hearing my predicament, asked where I left my phone, and the details, he was so reassuring...he then asked loudly to the counter staff - the same young male replied that he hasn't seen any handphone. So, we walked over to the kind lady who saw my phone being taken away, and she explained to the Officer, who now knows where to locate my HP. And all is good.
To the kind lady (customer), the senior staff and his colleagues (another senior male staff and a female staff) at Langham, THANK YOU very much - you know who you are! So very glad to have stayed in Langham with you all around. (I was already rushing to the airport, so couldn't thank you all properly and did not note your names.)
Thank you for making my departure smoothly.
Despite the worldwide system glitch resulting in flight delays - reaching home past midnight - incurring extra charges - I am not complaining at all.
We hope to be...
Read moreThis hotel is a Hong Kong tradition and extremely popular with (wealthy) locals as a destination for supper or dim sum prior to a night out (e.g. the nearby Cultural Centre/classical music) shopping/ movies / the waterfront. There is an authentic British pastry kitchen in the basement that serves all of the restaurants and the room service....the cream, cottled cream, and whipped cream pastries and cakes are always fresh. One of the must-haves is the white strawberry cakes (with white cream) when they are in season....red strawberry shortcake out of season. There is a tea blend called 'Langham Blend' available that is first tips Darjeeling (Wedgwood/Silver service), so the tea sets and cakes are definitely above what is available at either the Mandarin or The Peninsula. No question. In terms of decor and ambience, the hotel deserves a bit of credit for trying to do something different; there is Contemporary Chinese Art throughout and then there is caramel marble in an intricate parquet (throughout the hotel). The rooftop pool was just recently refurbished and they are very loose / free with the customers. No one will interfere with you....you can order from room service poolside if you wish...the pool and hot tub (believe it or not) have a view. This is because this part of TST near the Star Ferry is low rise.// All of this to say: if you have some money to spend and you want to see authentic Kowloon, you want to be surrounded by glitz and Michelin-starred restaurants, you want to catch a glimpse of a Cantopop star...yet you want ease during your stay ( staff not up in your business, friendly, fast service)...in a full-service 5 star hotel that even has a spa...then you should stay here. It's really easy to get in and out of the hotel, too...there are not multiple elevators or long waits or heavy security. It just takes a few seconds to get to the room. For all these reasons, this hotel is pure relaxation and fun, with a location next to Tiffany, Bulgari, West Kowloon, etc. And it's really not that big. It has a boutique hotel feel to it. I hope this hotel just stays the...
Read moreUpdate: the hotel management team followed up with sincere apologies and compensated us for the bad experience we had. Special thanks to Alan and Noel who helped deal with the situation and made the remainder of our stay a pleasant experience.
I don’t normally write review, but the staffs here are not trained to respect their customers, and this shouldn’t happen in a 5-star hotel like this. I am really pissed because I’m on a family trip which I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
The frontdesk girl (wearing glasses and a yellow jacket at around 11pm on 2/3) who handled my check-in was really impolite. Instead of welcoming her customers with smile and kind words, she was impatient from the beginning to the end. I booked the hotel through amex fine hotel and resort program, so when I checked in I ask where the hotel credits can be used as I normally do. Instead of answering my question, she impatiently said “I’ll tell you later”. And when she finally finished whatever she had to do on her computer, she said in a sarcastic manner, “now I can tell you what you care the most about, the hotel credits”.
The next morning I had breakfast with my family in the food gallery. We stayed a bit later until about 11am since we hadn’t finished everything and was engaged in a conversation. Suddenly a shorthair female server came to our table with a large tray in her hands. She pretended that she was cleaning the table next to us, but was actually forcing us to leave by putting the large tray on our table first. She didn’t even say a word before she did that. After that she rudely asked “which plates can I take away?” (you can really sense her rudeness if you were here!), and she started to reach for the plates before we said anything.
The service here is not even close to the Langham I stayed in elsewhere. To the hotel management: please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’d be happy to provide feedback so that other customers don’t experience the same...
