I booked Hotel El Dorado many months ago for my June trip to Colombia. The day of my flight, Delta canceled my flight with no explanation, with my new flight leaving the next day. I called Hotel El Dorado to ask them not to cancel my reservation since I would not be arriving that evening, to ask them to change the airport transportation I had arranged through the hotel to the next day, and to kindly ask them not to charge me for that night, as I would not be staying in the hotel. I was immediately told to contact Expedia, since I booked through them. Expedia called the hotel for me and I was told everything was good to arrive the next day and I would not be charged for the first night since my flight was canceled. I arrive in Bogota at midnight. No airport transportation. I had to call them and was told someone would pick me up in 20 minutes. I wait outside. 45 minutes later someone shows up to pick me up!! I stay for 3 nights and go to check out and the charges for the first night are on my bill. I asked the front desk about the charge and they said I had to pay it and work with Expedia to get the refund since that is who I booked through. I mistakenly pay it and immediately call Expedia, who agrees to investigate. EXPEDIA THEN REVIEWED THE CALL WHERE Hotel El Dorado TOLD THE EXPEDIA AGENT I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED. When I let the hotel know what Expedia has said, they continue to say the initial Expedia agent did not do what he was supposed to do to cancel the night for a refund, even though Expedia has record of the call where the agent did!!!! I have been around and around with this hotel, talking to multiple people. The managers are either "in a meeting", "have already left for the day", or they pretend to not speak English all of the sudden. The most recent person I talked to, Mariel, said all I had to do was send them the cancellation text from Delta via email and she had the authority to refund the first night's charges. Weeks have gone by and nothing. We're talking about $60 here!! It's not the money. It's the principle. These people are liars and crooks and their customer service is the WORST I have ever dealt with. Don't make the same mistake I did and trust them with your transportation and stay. They are liars and they...
Read moreI stayed here for about a week in late July. The entire experience was nothing but perfect. Check in was delightful and professional. They helped me with my bags to the room and showed me the rooms amenities. I planned a team offsite here and they were very responsive and attentive even though I was on a different time zone. I booked the small conference room with video beam (projector) and the coffee/tea/water/ cookie service which was perfect. We had a few waiters who were extremely attentive the entire 2 days we had our meetings. The room was beautiful and spacious, comfortable bed, quiet, and peaceful. The breakfast was included in my room pricing and was lovely every morning. Everyone I encountered during my stay here was exceptional, I don’t remember all the names but I was very needy and they were able to make anything I needed happen, from printing to room changes, to lunches, recommendations, etc, they handled. Truly an exceptional team. Thank you: Carlos, Caterin, Giovanni, the security guard, the service man who staffed the meeting space, the waiter who brought me coffee to my room every morning, the night staff, the lovely kitchen captain (who noticed I didn’t finish my lunch and offered to send me something else even though I was just full ☺️) Thank you for everything! I will...
Read moreLovely hotel - not a chain so you get a more authentic and 'local' feel. We had a superior room with jacuzzi which looked modern, was large and had everything needed for a good stay. No significant facilities like you'd find in the chain hotels as it's a mid size hotel but the location just down from Parque 93 was great - very safe and a number of restaurants in the area worth visiting. Storia D'Amore was our favourite.||Staff were very friendly and helpful. Airport pickup worked well and was reasonable (pay driver rather than it being added to your bill for reference but you can pay in USD if you dont have COP). Return transfer also worked well and was cheaper. Takes around 20-30 mins to reach the airport depending on traffic.||Did a great city tour with Gran Columbia tours which was superb and they picked us up and dropped us back to the hotel too. Handy little supermarket at the end of the street for snacks and drinks. Breakfast had cook to order eggs and a good variety of hot and cold dishes in a buffet format. For the price, the stay was...
