I first visited this restaurant in 2007 with my then girlfriend, now wife. 11 years ago this restaurant was the gold standard for Japanese food in Bogota. I remember seeing Japanese people dining there regularly and after sampling their fare I could see why. The offerings from both the sushi bar and kitchen were exquisite in taste, preparation, and presentation. The wait staff was attentive and courteous without being obtrusive. The restaurant was always meticulously clean and pleasant to dine in. Fast forward to almost 11 years later, my wife I managed to find their new location. I am pleased to say that if anything the restaurant has only improved. In addition, three of the original staff from the previous location were still there. And they recognized us! The sushi chef called me by my first name! We had a magical dining experience that I will always treasure and hope to repeat. To those of you dining in Bogota, feel free to visit Wok or Wasabi or any of the other numerous “Asian Fusion” restaurants, they have their own qualities. However if you are looking for an amazing Japanese food experience, visit Sushigozen. Do not be dissuaded by the $$$$ in the description. Sushi Gozen is still the gold standard for Japanese food in Colombia and the entire...
Read moreWhat a delicious meal!!! I really liked their service, their waiters were all very polite and friendly without overdoing it. This is one of those restaurants where you go for the food quality, the overall ambiance and experience is very average. To start we had some Dubonnet and herbal infusion (aromática) for drinks. For food, we had the Maki variety with 4 rolls choice, which was the best option as many rolls looked delicious . We tried the Niji, futo, salmon special and wakame rolls , and those were deli! We also tried the Maguro Tuna tataki, which was very nice , although I felt a little something was missing. I highly recommend it as an authentic, there were some Japanese Embassy members eating there which...

The rice itself was what we always crave for and never find—the perfect glutinous rice—and it was very well done with respect to the subtle balance of vinegar and rice sweetener. The selection of fish, while not my absolute favorite, was still good. Miriam, our server, was also a delight. Im sure we’ll be back when we’re in...
