The Lugano (Imperial) Hotel Suites is a hidden gem. Among the hundreds of small hotels in Bogota, the Lugano is a solid choice with an excellent Chapinero location right next to Zona G where you will find more amazing restaurants than you will ever be able to fully explore.||The staff of the Lugano take service seriously. Ask for ANYTHING and they will get it for you! Whether its just extra room items like towells or custom requests to stock the mini-bar they make it happen. If you need a taxi or private car for city transport or out of town sightseeing they will do all the calls and have a car waiting when you need it. ||The hotel is secure with 24 hour desk and security, always someone who speaks English.||Ground level restaurant serves breakfast until 11 (sometimes 10) with buffet of pastries, bread, waffles, pancakes, meats and cheeses; cereals, granola, yogurt and juice. Eggs are cooked to order, all included in your nightly rate. Also serves lunch and dinner with traditional Colombian selections.||Rooms are great....I saw that there are larger 1-2 bedroom units, I had a studio with separate kitchen. The room is plenty big with lots of room, closet space, safe, TV with satelite cable and nice fast wi-fi internet. One of the nice thing about the rooms are the floor to ceiling windows across the entire outside wall, gives you a wide open feeling. For privacy there are black out pull-down blinds and adjustable slat blinds as well.||Kitchen has 3/4 size fridge, two burner hot top, microwave, sink, coffee maker, dishes and everything you need for in room dining. Fridge is pre-stocked with bottled water, beer, gatorade, coke. Snacks include chips, chocolates, nuts, granola bars and sausages. Mini-bar prices are very reasonable.||Bed was very comfy with big soft pillows and comforter to keep you warm should it get chilly.||Bathroom is top notch, marble floor to ceiling with lovely walk in shower and a window you can open to the outside. Complete with fluffy towells and robes.||I found the Lugano comfortable, friendly, well located and with excellent service. If you are there more than a couple nights you will get to know the staff and they make you feel at home. ||Bogota is not just up and coming, it has arrived. Safe, beautiful, affordable, friendly to a fault and just busting at the seams with culture, food, art, craft beer, coffee, shopping and more than you...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay here and would recommend it in a heartbeat. My partner and I arrived the day before we had to leave Colombia and we were made to feel extremely welcome. We were greeted by Gabriel Vargas, the concierge, who helped us with our bags, offered to advise us on local restaurants and showed us to the dining area, where they were putting on a FREE DINNER for guests that night! He continued to be really friendly and helpful until we left. The room was spotlessly clean, really spacious and comfortable and the bathroom facilities were top notch. The bed was the most comfortable I had ever slept in....I felt like a princess :) The free food (and indeed the paid-for food) was excellent. The next day we asked if there was any chance of a slightly late checkout as we had a night flight and the very helpful woman on reception immediately offered us a 7pm check-out time which made all the difference and meant we had almost a whole extra day to make use of the room. The communal areas are really stylish and comfortable and all the staff we interacted with were great, including the manager. I think they'd just updated the internet and we had no problems at all with it. The area is very pleasant and a good alternative to the touristy centre of Bogota and we felt very safe walking around there at night. Staying at Lugano Suites was a totally delightful experience and this was probably the best value hotel we stayed at during our three weeks travelling around Columbia. Thank you and hopefully see you...
Read moreStayed two nights here recently and really enjoyed the hotel, Great Location and the staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. The suites were large and very comfortable. Very nice linens and towels. Well stocked kitchen and you could have easily cooked a meal. Safe neighborhood and they always had security or doorman at the front entrance. Only drawback to the experience, was the room charges and billing. And I don't mean to sound like I am faulting the hotel directly. Nothing on the bill was in English and there was no clear explanation of charges for us. English is not common there so I should not have expected the bill to be in English. It seems they charge a VAT similar to Europe that I have heard we did not need to pay. Also, any requests for the minibar appear to be a very high cost. We have even tried to get the final statement translated without much success. Very complex pricing structure for a simple two night stay. That being said, just pay attention and perhaps ask up front what type of charges to expect. I feel, that if we spoke Spanish, we could have gotten a good...
