We booked this hostel via phone one day before our arrival. The two key factors were a 50% price discount the regular rate (140k COP) promised to us from that the room would be available at 11am after a long bus ride from Popayan.||||When we arrived at 1pm, we stood in the lobby for a good 5 minutes before someone finally appeared in dirty clothes to check us in, mentioning the room would not be ready before 3pm. When we stated that this was our priority and promised, he did not even apologise and instead handed me a blank minibar inventory list for me to sign. I refused as i had not even inspected the minibar as the room was not ready. He then disappeared and left us sitting in the lobby, no courtesy drink offered, no apology, no room.||||After I went to check at the reception again, an angry women who didnt speak spanish claimed to not work there. I immediately requested to speak to a manager. Another guy in his early 20's appeared and asked me to follow him into a seedy back room, where the woman from before, the checkin guy and the Manager started yelling at me.||||I learned that the 50% discount would not be given. Instead, the manager claimed that the price of 140k COP is already including the discount. I showed him a booking.com and TripAdvisor booking screen where 140k COP was listed as the regular price and demanded the 50% discount. He denied that the prior conversation ever happened and treated me like a cheap street bum who should rather sleep in hostels.||||I managed to escape this seedy room and we left the premises as soon as we could as we felt extremely uncomfortable. The staff did nothing to at least apologise.||||This was an extraordinarily poor experience in Colombia, where everyone we met was super friendly and respectful and honest. This experience was very discomforting and gave us a very bad feeling. ||||We walked 10 mintes through the Cali midday heat and found a much better place for 120k COP, Casa Alegre Boutique hostel just down the street, a little oasis.||||Please avoid Colina San Antonio and their seedy staff, dishonest pricing policy and...
Read moreI'd strongly recommend against staying here. Three people work the front desk, a gentleman from Cuba, and a lady from Cali. Both of whom are very nice. The third, however, is frankly put quite bizarre, and exceptionally rude. In the morning the lady who worked the front desk assured us that they would have no problem printing our boarding passes. Around 7 that night, she and I returned and it was this man working, she asked him nicely if he could print our boarding passes; he responded angrily with this strangely vacant look on his face that it wasn't his job, and she'd have to find a printing shop. He was occupied with browsing the internet you see. Perturbed I returned, I asked again, specifically laying out that we just needed to print our boarding passes. Once again he responded no, not even glancing at me, and tried to shoo me out. I got a bit heated, and stated that he had a massive printer behind him and that the lady in the morning assured us that it would be no problem. He tried to say no again, but seeing as I wasn't leaving he stated angrily, once again with this completely vacant look on his face, that we never said please. We had, but that's neither here nor there. I said please again, and he told me to email them to the hotel and he'd get around to it. I left the room some time later to get the tickets, as soon as I left I could hear girls music from the 80's blasting, with him singing along. I went in to the office to get the boarding passes, and he was staring at the computer screen, zero expression singing girls music from the 80s. My girlfriend was so creeped out by him she barricaded the door with a chair, lock on the door didn't work. If you're a female traveller in particular, I would strongly recommend against staying at this hotel. Cali has a number of great hotels, I've been to the city many times, and this is the first time I've ever experienced something like this. Needless to say our surreal odyssey with him continued the next morning, but this should give you a good idea of what you have to look forward to if you decide...
Read moreWe booked a room one day in advance via telephone due to a 50% trip advisor price reduction and because the staff assured us on the phone that our room would be ready at 11am.||We got there at 1:30pm after a long bus ride, we're so looking forward to the hotel, but the experience was very awful. First it was hard to find anyone working in the hotel to welcome us, after we found a guy he told us that the room wasn't ready yet. What a disappointment as it was the exact thing that the staff reassured us a day ago. |Secondly we realized that the guy on the phone lied straight to our face as he didn't give us a trip advisor price reduction, because everybody in the hotel paid 140.000COP. Therefore it was their regular price and instead of making their reduction promise reality they just ignored it and pretended to give us the reduction. What a unprofessional behavior. After that we decided to look for another place to stay as it seemed like no one in the hotel cared about our satisfaction, they just let us sit in the lobby not doing anything to solve the problem or improve customer satisfaction instead they talked to us rude and disrespectful as we confronted the manager. ||It was really the worst experience with the manager, he talked to us like we were unimportant backpacker, who just wanted to stay in a fancy place and couldn't afford it otherwise. Well actually his place might be looking nice, but you pay the same for hostels in the San Antonio area with actual customer oriented professional staff. ||So don't be misled by the nice pictures, there are plenty of much nicer, friendly and professional places in this area, which are worth the money. I wouldn't put one foot in that hotel with this rude manager and lying...
