Playa Hollywood — Hotel in Cartagena

Horrible experience and absolutely avoid! Totally scammy staff working the beach to sell the “tourist price” drinks to you that are double the price the locals pay. We had a large group that arrived to absolute chaos with these waiter guys fighting over our group, to the point where a couple of them nearly got into a fight. When we finally had them sort it out as to who “got us”, things were fine. Until the bill came. Credit card charge was 15% or US$50. They charged for tables. The drink charges were even more on the bill than listed on the menu. The actual restaurant providing the drinks and food finally just walked away from us when we disputed the charge for credit cards and we were walked to an ATM to get money.

This place was such a horrible experience. Plus it’s super crowded and now more of a family beach. Do not go here unless you have lots of cash, and expect to be scammed...

Zero stars for the beach because of rude people selling stupid junk all the time, every five mins. The most annoying beach day I ever had. The creepy women tried to massage me. I had to say no 10 times, then yell NO as one tried to touch me. My friend got cream put on him and they began to message then wanted money. I said no and refused to pay them and they got all upset and followers us around saying we had to pay. This is really bad. Really aggressive guys try to get you to a restaurant. They don't take no for an answer. I probably will not return to Cartagena because everywhere people are too aggressive selling stuff that I don't want or need. It's really bad...

Bring your own food, drinks, towels, and save yourselves the exhausting hassle of the neverending haggle. It took so long to even get settled in and go in the water by the time we were done getting harassed. People touching constantly not taking no for an answer; do not trust someone befriends you to “protect” you from other locals because they’ll just be the one scamming you in the end. Prices changing every minute, menus changing, complete scam beach. Aside from that the busy / music / party is nice if you’re not looking for a quiet relaxing time.
