A Heartbreaking Decline 💔
I'm beyond disappointed with my recent experience at Kiosko del Bony, a place I've cherished since childhood and considered a true Cartagena institution.
My memories of their incredible shrimp cocktail drew me back, especially after running late for lunch at Bazurto Market this afternoon. Since I was staying nearby, I was excited to revisit this nostalgic spot and enjoy some fried fish, coconut rice, and plantains.
My initial interaction with my server Cristian was positive. I ordered an 8oz shrimp ceviche (no onions) and, upon his recommendation, opted for the Sierra posta (larger cut) instead of a small fried sierra fish. The ceviche was fantastic and delivered a powerful wave of nostalgia. The saltine crackers, the perfectly prepared shrimp, and the familiar view were all spot on. With such a strong start, I had high hopes for the rest of my meal. Unfortunately, things quickly deteriorated.
Ten minutes after finishing my ceviche, I was served a fried mojarra – not the sierra I ordered. I sent it back, and 15 minutes later, another dish arrived. While it wasn't visually appealing, I tried to remain optimistic. The fish itself was bland, but I figured some lemon would help. However, as I ate towards the middle, I discovered it was completely raw. While I enjoy raw fish, ordering fried fish implies I expect it to be cooked.
The plantains were dry, and the coconut rice was underwhelming. Despite these issues, I was still trying to enjoy the experience until I unearthed a tangled hair embedded within the coconut rice. My appetite vanished instantly.
When my server finally returned, I quietly pointed out the hair. I wasn't looking to cause a scene, so I simply asked for the bill. No apology was offered, and I was charged the full amount.
I left heartbroken, wondering where things went wrong at Kiosko del Bony. It's truly sad to say that this once-iconic institution has lost me as a customer. What a disappointing and...

Read moreDisappointing Experience at Kiosco El Bony, Colombia I'm writing this review as a warning to others: beware of the overhyped Kiosco El Bony in Colombia. Popular YouTubers may have raved about this place, but our experience was a resounding disappointment.
Subpar Food Quality The cooks at Kiosco El Bony have no shame in serving fake, frozen, tiny shrimps that taste like plastic. It's appalling and unacceptable. The food was not only gross but also excessively salty. My wife's soup was inedible due to the high salt content, and my son was equally unhappy with his meal.
Service Was Just Okay While the service was not terrible, it was far from exceptional. Our server seemed indifferent to our concerns about the food quality.
Overhyped and Overpriced Kiosco El Bony's popularity among YouTubers has clearly gone to their heads. The prices are inflated, and the quality of food does not justify the cost.
Will Not Return We will not be returning to Kiosco El Bony. The combination of subpar food quality, excessive salt, and fake ingredients has left a bad taste in our mouths. Save your money and avoid this overhyped establishment.
