Isabel K Day Spa — Local services in Cartagena

The place is clean and the staff was helpful. However, this is not truly a spa per se. If you have ever gotten a professional massage before this is not the place for you. You will get a body rub. It will feel ok (painful at times) but your tension will remain. I reached out to them prior to going and they assured me these were licensed professional masseuse (meaning they received some type of formal schooling for this). I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but lost on this one. I'm not upset just want to leave an honest review. If you're looking for a back rub then sure you can go here. I'm not sure Cartagena has any real spas anyways. They all kind of feel like a tourist trap to be honest.

Regarding what can be done better. I think they can focus on identifying the areas where the client has tension and apply targeted pressure there. For example, the neck, shoulders, shoulders blades, lower back, hips are known areas to accumulate tension. Also you don't have to put so much pressure that it hurts. If you apply targeted pressure in small amounts the muscle will ultimate release. I'm not a professional masseuse, but have gotten plenty of them and these are the patterns I've noticed. I strongly recommend Isabel K Spa. First, my facial was very good. The aesthetician was very thorough at every step. Also, the place is very clean and welcoming. Overall a very professional spa location.

I have to note that the owner went above and beyond to help me with a difficult situation. I left a necklace in the facial room and realized I had left it that night/the day before I was going back to the states (Sunday when they are closed). I wrote to them late Saturday night, they responded first thing in the morning on Sunday and the owner agreed to go on her day off/Sunday to return the necklace. I was extremely impressed and grateful for it! This was certainly a gesture of honesty and professionalism...

I love supporting local businesses, and after a few long days at the beach my skin was done with me. Found this gem and whew chile was it a treat.
