We stayed on the 12th floor of this property for eight days in December 2022. The experience overall was positive. The property is very clean, manned 24 hours by doorman/security guards who are all very polite and helpful. We were disappointed we did not get to try out the 'Turkish Sauna' in the building, as it is open only 8 am - 5 pm.
We had a bit of a snafu with our two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit. I never received an email confirmation of the booking (I took a screenshot though) and reached out to the WhatsApp number on the EE Hotels website about a month before our arrival. I asked if there was a sofa bed and was told there are sofa beds in all units. A few days before our arrival I was contacted by Carlos, the property manager, to confirm airport pickup (which I would highly recommend - it was inexpensive, and the driver contacted me by WhatsApp while we were in the airport, so I was able to keep him informed of our delay clearing immigration). It was at that time I found out that there was not a sofa bed in the unit we had reserved and there were no other units available for the duration of our stay. I was told there was not room in the living room to put an additional bed.
When we arrived, we took the mattress off the single bed and put it in the living room floor. The box spring was not that comfortable to sleep on but tolerable. The next morning, I spoke to the housekeeping supervisor and asked for a dish drain and dishtowel. When we returned that afternoon, we were pleasantly surprised to see housekeeping had added a mattress topper to the box spring. So, we were set for the remainder of our stay.
It was very convenient to have a washer in the unit - we did a load of laundry almost every day and hung the clothes on the drying rack above - they were always dry by the next morning. There was laundry soap in the unit - one less thing to buy at the grocery store.
The AC units in the bedrooms worked quite well but there was no unit in the living/dining room, so it was sometimes a bit warm, but not awful. We kept the window open at night but even on the 12th floor the traffic street noise can be quite loud with the windows open.
Housekeeping did a nice job of keeping the unit clean and supplying us with clean towels. They changed all the sheets mid-week upon my request.
Carlos was available via WhatsApp to answer any questions we had whether during business hours or after -- I met him the day after our arrival so I could make the payment for the balance -- very nice, professional young man.
The location was great - directly across the street from a Carulla grocery store, 1/2 a block from the Oviedo mall and about 1/2 mile walk from Santa Fe mall. There is not a gym on the property, but we went to the Smart Fit at Santa Fe mall most days and bought a day pass for about $5 per person.
I definitely recommend this property - lowering by one star only because of the lack of clarity regarding the sofa bed but in the end, they made it right (and did not charge us for the extra person which we had in the unit). You can't go wrong staying at the...
Read moreI just returned from another stay at Alcazar Oviedo (my third) and I wanted to write a quick review.||||I originally found them on Airbnb because I was tired of staying in hotels and wanted an apartment with my own kitchen and washer/dryer for longer stays.||||After my first trip, I knew that I wouldn’t have to bother looking anywhere else. The price is absolutely fantastic for everything that’s included.||||First off, the staff is fantastic. They always have a doorman on duty for security and they are all extremely courteous and respectful.||||Marcela, the manager, will give you her phone number when you arrive so you can text her with anything you might need. She’s very responsive and even when I text her around midnight she always gets back to me quickly.||||Housekeeping is always around to quickly bring you whatever you need, from towels to toiletries and they are always happy and energetic. ||||The rooms are spacious and very clean. The kitchen is fully stocked and the washer/dryer allows you to pack much less in your suitcase. Most of the rooms have incredible views of the mountains so you’ll be happy to relax in your living room and look out the windows, while you enjoy extremely fast wi-fi. The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioners because it can sometimes be a little bit warm in the evenings. There is also a sauna in the building but I have not had a chance to use it yet.||||The location is absolutely perfect. You’re directly across the street from Oviedo Mall, which has many restaurants and money exchange centers. There is also a Carulla market so you can purchase groceries to cook back at your apartment, and you’ll feel very safe walking around the area in the daytime and also at night.||||On Sundays, they close the main street right next to the hotel from 7am to 1pm for public exercise. You can walk, run or ride your bike alongside the wonderful people who live in the neighborhood. Everyone is friendly and welcoming to travelers. ||||I’m trying to think of some negatives just to balance things out but I really can’t. The only issue is that you are not in Parque Lleras if you enjoy being part of the action, but you are only an 8min cab ride away. You are also only a 7min walk away from the beautiful Santa Fe Mall if Oviedo isn’t your cup of tea.||||That wraps it up. I would like to thank Marcela and her amazing staff again for all of their hospitality and I will be back...
